Barack Obama just got some very bad news.
For all the wrong reasons, former President Obama will play a big role in the 2020 election.
And that’s because this scandal Barack Obama wanted to keep buried just blew up in his face.
Democrats want to take out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
McConnell is no friend to conservatives.
The RINO Senator from Kentucky blocked funding for Donald Trump’s border wall at every turn and worked to undermine Trump’s “Make America Great Again” immigration and trade agendas.
But Democrats also know if they win the White House it will all be for naught if the Republicans still control the Senate.
If a Democrat wins the White House the party must flip four seats to seize the majority and control both houses of Congress and the Presidency.
Democrats think they can win in Arizona, Maine, and Colorado.
That leaves them one more seat.
And they have settled on ousting Mitch McConnell.
On Monday night, an odd story appeared on NBC news by “reporter” Corky Siemaszko claiming Mitch McConnell’s great-great-grandfather owned slaves.
Siemaszko reported:
The two great-great-grandfathers, James McConnell and Richard Daley, owned a total of at least 14 slaves in Limestone County, Alabama — all but two of them female, according to the county “Slave Schedules” in the 1850 and 1860 censuses.
The details about McConnell’s ancestors, discovered by NBC News through a search of ancestry and census records, came in the wake of recent hearings on reparations before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. Asked about the reparations issue, McConnell, R-Ky., said he was opposed to the idea, arguing it would be hard to figure out whom to compensate.
The timing of the NBC report became clear when failed 2018 congressional candidate Amy McGrath announced her Senate candidacy and made her media debut on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” just hours after MSNBC smeared McConnell.
The coordinated rollout between the McGrath campaign and NBC News worked as McGrath raked in $2.5 million dollars in her first day as a Senate candidate.
By comparison, there were Democrats running for President that did not raise that much in the entire second quarter fundraising period.
Mitch McConnell was asked about NBC combing through his family history and going back nearly 200 years to smear him as a racist and McConnell delivered a comeback that threw Democrats for a loop.
McConnell noted that this story put him in the same boat as former President Barack Obama – namely being a descendant of slave owners and also opposing reparations for slavery.
“I find myself once again in the same position as President Obama. We both opposed reparations and we both are the descendants of slave-owners,” McConnell told the press.
And it is true that Barack Obama descended from slave owners.
His great-great-great grandfather on his mother’s side, George Washington Overall, owned two slaves when he lived in Kentucky.
McConnell’s comeback of throwing Obama’s family history back in the fake news media’s face ended this silly line of attack that liberal journalists colluded with the McGrath campaign to cook up.
