Fox News Channel is going through a period of massive upheaval.
Donald Trump’s attacked the network as the “Never Trump” news channel.
And now Sean Hannity made this announcement that will change Fox News forever.
Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly conducted a news-making interview with President Trump for his subscription news channel.
O’Reilly appeared on Sean Hannity’s radio program to promote the interview.
During the course of their discussion, O’Reilly noted he had never seen anyone endure the level of hatred and attacks that Donald Trump has.
“I have never seen a human being able to absorb more punishment than Donald Trump,” O’Reilly stated.
O’Reilly compared the public smear campaign against President Trump to how liberal media critics hounded Hannity and O’Reilly for decades.
“You and I, we can identify because we’ve been attacked for more than 20 years, each of us has,” O’Reilly added.
At this point the conversation took a shocking turn.
Hannity agreed with O’Reilly’s claim and even revealed that Hannity is constantly pitching O’Reilly on a return to Fox News.
“Twenty-four to be exact,” Hannity told O’Reilly. “By the way, I keep offering you, go back on Fox, and…”
O’Reilly responded by explaining that a Fox News return held very little appeal to him at this stage of his life.
“Yeah and why do I want to do that?” O’Reilly interjected. “So I can have security guards go with me everywhere, like I used to?”
But Hannity did not give up.
Hannity pressed O’Reilly to accept a return to Fox News and Hannity even appeared to offer O’Reilly his old 8PM time slot back.
“No, so that you take the number one slot,” Hannity stated. “I can tell you it’s easier being number two because we’ll end the — we’ll end the year again number one in all of cable, and with that comes all the crap associated with it.”
O’Reilly and Hannity formed the cornerstone of the primetime lineup that made Fox News the number one rated cable news channel with O’Reilly helming the highest rated show on all of cable news.
But Fox fired O’Reilly in 2017 after the New York Times and CNN hounded O’Reilly and his sponsors with allegations of sexual harassment against O’Reilly.
Fox News eventually reshuffled their lineup with Tucker Carlson holding down O’Reilly’s former 8PM time slot.
O’Reilly putting off Hannity by claiming he did not want security guards following him around like in the old days was likely a polite way to put off Hannity’s campaign for O’Reilly to return to Fox News.
Fox News just finished October as the top-rated cable news channel once again and Tucker Carlson drew his highest ratings even at 8PM.
Carlson’s monster ratings, innovative broadcasting style and support for the President’s agenda all add up to a successful formula that Fox News Channel is not likely to meddle with any time soon.
