The Democrats are in a dangerous situation.
They have too many candidates vying for the Presidency at this current time.
And now this decades-old sex scandal could come back to destroy the Democrat party’s Presidential frontrunner.
Late last week, a serious issue resurfaced for Joe Biden.
It was a sex scandal he should’ve known was going to seriously harm his Presidential campaign.
The sex scandal? The Anita Hill debacle from the early 90s.
Now you may be curious how a nearly 30-year-old scandal that didn’t involve Biden directly could harm his chances of winning the Presidency.
The answer?
Twenty-eight years ago, Joe Biden served as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
He was the chief Congressman in charge of confirming Justice Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.
Anita Hill had accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment and was called to testify before Congress during his confirmation hearings.
Biden, who’s now seen as a champion of civil rights issues, was joined by a panel of almost all-white representatives who grilled Hill about the details of her allegations.
Many times Biden and his cronies asked her questions that would make even the most lurid tabloids blush.
In addition, Biden did not invite other women to corroborate her story, though many were willing to do so.
Thus, Hill was extremely angry over the situation and continues to be so.
In order to heal the divide between “old white men” and young African American women, Biden needed to win Hill’s support for his Presidential bid.
Which is why a few days before he made his announcement, he called Hill to discuss what happened.
Hill said that while Biden tried to win her support, he never fully apologized, and it is why she will not endorse him as a candidate.
Even though Anita Hill is a deeply private woman, she is an icon in the politically active community of black females.
Her refusal to accept his apology is a major strike against the Biden campaign.
Hill maintains that Biden is no different than he was 28 years ago.
As The New York Times mentioned in an article on the subject: “But, she [Hill} added, she cannot support Mr. Biden for president until he takes full responsibility for his conduct, including his failure to call as corroborating witnesses other women who were willing to testify before the Judiciary Committee. By leaving them out, she said, he created a ‘he said, she said’ situation that did not have to exist.”
The fact that Hill did not accept Biden’s apology proves what many have suspected all along.
That the Democrat party is not the party for minorities, but the party of lip service—and only so long as it serves in their best interests.
