Mitt Romney is the biggest RINO in the United States Senate.
Romney is up for re-election in 2024.
And shocking new polls presented Mitt Romney with this doomsday scenario.
Mitt Romney is up for re-election in 2024.
Romney’s re-election stands to serve as a flashpoint in the battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party.
Back in 2016, Romney founded the Never Trump movement.
Romney worked to elect Hillary Clinton by trying to trick Republicans into staying home or writing in another Republican.
After Trump won, Romney ran for Senate in Utah to serve as a voice in the Senate for the anti-Trump establishment.
In the Senate Romney voted to convict Trump twice in Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment hoaxes.
Romney also voted for Joe Biden’s gun grab which allows Democrat prosecutors to ban and confiscate firearms through red flag laws and creates a waiting period for Americans under the age of 21.
Romney also voted to impose homosexual marriage on every state and Joe Biden’s Green New Deal scheme to ruin the American energy industry and turn America into a socialist nation.
And to close out 2022, Romney voted for Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden’s $1.7 trillion spending bill which pumped another $45 billion into Joe Biden’s war in Ukraine while banning spending money on border security in America.
And Utah is still a red state even if it isn’t a “Trump state” — Trump won 51 percent of the vote in 2016 and 58 percent in 2020.
“That wasn’t really popular amongst Utahns,” Utah Republican Party Chair Carson Jorgensen stated adding that Romney voting for the socialist spending bill upset Republicans “who aren’t in the Trump corner.”
This past November Romney also refused to endorse his fellow Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee’s re-election when closet Democrat and Never Trumper Evan McMullin challenged Lee.
Romney refused to endorse Lee because Lee supported Trump and Romney felt more comfortable with the liberal McMullin.
Jorgensen predicted that would come back to haunt Romney.
“That’s probably something that they’ll hold over his head,” Jorgensen stated. “In Utah, when you don’t say anything, it kind of speaks volumes.”
But selling out to the left has its own downsides.
And Business Insider reports polling in Utah shows Romney’s approval rating sinking into the low 40s making him vulnerable to a primary challenge.
“’Of all the Republican states, this is the state that has been probably the least Trump-friendly,’ said one Utah Republican consultant, who requested anonymity to speak frankly. But the consultant added that he’d seen polling showing Romney polling in the ‘low 40s’ in a potential primary — enough to get by in a crowded field, but potentially perilous in a head-to-head battle,” Business Insider reported.
Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes is the favorite to pick up a Trump endorsement and challenge Romney.
Romney previously stated he had no set timetable for deciding if he would run for re-election.
“There’s no particular timeframe,” he said. “But I make sure that I have the staffing and the financial resources to proceed with the campaign.”
RINO Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell declared his super PAC would spend whatever it took to support Romney.
McConnell wants a fellow RINO who is all-in on open borders, gun control, the left’s cultural agenda, and amnesty in the Senate.
“He’s been a really important part of our conference. People respect his intelligence, his assessment of the era we find ourselves in. And I think his running for reelection would be very important,” McConnell exclaimed. “It’s important for the Republican Party and the country that he runs again.”
But no matter how much comes in behind Mitt Romney, Romney will have to contend with the fact that voting and acting like a Democrat alienated Republicans and set him up for a difficult re-election.
And Romney may opt to retire rather than risk defeat.
