In recent years the Supreme Court emerged as the crown jewel prize of winning Presidential elections.
Presidents can shape American politics for generations depending on which justices their nominees replace.
And now this Supreme Court Justice made a jaw-dropping announcement no Democrat could believe.
Liberals still seethe over Republicans confirming Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Gorsuch filled Antonin Scalia’s seat and Brett Kavanaugh replaced RINO Justice Anthony Kennedy.
Those two confirmations shifted the court to the right.
Liberals do not handle defeat well.
That is evidenced by the utter refusal to accept the fact that Donald Trump won the 2016 election and is the legitimate President.
The left’s blind hatred also extends to the Supreme Court where Democrats regard Kavanaugh and Gorsuch’s Supreme Court seats as “stolen” because of the Russian collusion hoax and Republicans refusing to hold a vote on Merrick Garland after Barack Obama nominated Garland during the middle of an election year.
Every time the five Republican justices deliver a majority decision in cases that matter to conservatives, fake news reporters and Democrats howl that the decision was “political.”
Liberal Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan addressed these concerns of many on the left in remarks at the University of California at Berkley Law School.
But Kagan delivered a message the left-wing audience was not prepared to hear.
Kagan informed the audience that the court’s decisions that went against the left were not illegitimate, and that liberal howls that the court was political were “overblown.”
“Does the fact that we live in a polarized world increase the responsibility of the court to think about these questions, to behave in a non-polarized fashion?” Kagan told the crowd. “I think it does. I think we have to understand the world we’re living in and try, to the extent we can, to find common ground, to try to the extent that we can to reach consensus, to try to the extent we can to see how the world looks from another point of view.”
Liberals are playing catch up on the Supreme Court.
After the Warren court imposed a series of liberal decisions in the 1960s – President Eisenhower appointed Warren to the court and considered him his biggest mistake – and the 1973 Roe v Wade decision, Republican voters mobilized around election politicians that would nominate and confirm conservative justices to all levels of the federal judiciary.
In the last election, 56 percent of voters that put the Supreme Court as their number one issue voted for Donald Trump as opposed to 41 percent that chose Hillary Clinton.
Democrats are worried that if their voters do not match that intensity in the upcoming election, Donald Trump will win re-election.
And that could allow him to appoint liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s successor.
That outcome would lock the left out of Supreme Court majority for nearly 40 years.
