Our country’s veterans deserve to be respected.
But many on the left disrespect them every single day.
This latest anti-American attack on a Navy veteran will make you sick.
John Ackert is a retired U.S. Navy officer living in Florida.
As a patriotic American, when he moved into his new home four years ago, he placed a flag sticker on his mailbox by the street.
After four years of no problems, he was told by his homeowner’s association he must take the American flag sticker off, stating it was not “in consonance” with the values of the neighborhood.
As a patriotic American, Ackert refused and appealed the order.
As reported by WCTV:
“There’s a dispute brewing over a patriotic mailbox wrap in Tallahassee. The homeowners association says it’s not allowed.
The Southwood Residential Community Association sent a letter to the veteran who put up the wrap, asking him to remove it or face penalties. However, the veteran said he’s not backing down without a fight.
“It’s not in consonance with their aesthetic values here in Southwood,” said retired U.S. Navy Officer, John Ackert.
Ackert received the notice last week.
“As the holiday season comes to a close, please remove the American flag mailbox wrap. Decoration may be displayed 30 days prior and must be taken down 15 days after,” Ackert continues. “That’s been there for four years. It was put there 30 days after I moved into this house.”
Now, Ackert is standing up for what he believes in. He wrote an appeal and hopes the SRCA changes its mind.
“I view this as a form of bullying to be honest. And I think people should stand up to bullying of any form, and particularly this,” Ackert said.”
Neighbors were floored, but not surprised by the decision made by their HOA.
Mike Stephenson, one of Ackert’s neighbors, stated:
“I think it’s ridiculous. What’s wrong with being patriotic in the country you live in?”
Mike Patel, another one of Ackert’s neighbors fired off at the HOA:
“The man’s a veteran, he served the country. It’s just a mailbox with a flag. I don’t think it’s right. He owns the house, he can at least have that.”
The HOA has given Ackert 15 days to remove the sticker or face a fine.
So far, Ackert has refused, and the HOA has stated they will have a final decision for him in the coming days.
It is clear this is simply an attack on American patriotism by a power-hungry homeowner’s association.
As a U.S. Navy veteran, the least Ackert deserves is the right to display the flag he fought to defend.
It seems nobody has an issue with the mailbox but the Southwood Residential Community Association.
This isn’t the only case of veterans being attacked for being patriotic on their own property.
Just a few months ago, a veteran in Colorado was told to remove an American flag from his own property.
After that, the veteran made a Facebook video about it which went viral, and the property manager was eventually forced to allow the flag to stay.
