Donald Trump reshaped the Supreme Court with three nominations.
Now Americans are in for some bad news.
It comes in the form of the bombshell that the Supreme Court is facing one big shake-up that no one saw coming.
Democrats are still furious that Republicans in the Senate exercised their constitutional prerogative to block Barack Obama’s nominee to fill Antonin Scalia’s Supreme Court seat.
Joe Biden sought to placate these voices on the left by announcing the creation of a commission to study packing the Supreme Court and other liberal power grabs to overthrow the current six to three conservative majority.
Donald Trump warned that this commission would spell the end of the Supreme Court as Americans know it.
Trump first attacked the Court for not taking up cases involving charges that massive voter fraud cost him the 2020 election.
The former President claimed it would be “ironic” if the Court conservatives refused to consider Trump’s arguments about the outcome of the election only to have Democrats turn around and install a permanent liberal regime ruling the Supreme Court until the end of time.
“Now there is a very good chance they will be diluted (and moved throughout the court system so that they can see how the lower courts work), with many new Justices added to the Court, far more than has been reported,” Trump wrote. “There is also a good chance that they will be term-limited.”
Trump claimed the Supreme Court justices had no one to blame but themselves for this outcome.
“Our politically correct Supreme Court will get what they deserve—an unconstitutionally elected group of Radical Left Democrats who are destroying our Country,” Trump’s statement added.
Trump continued on ripping Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for lacking the backbone to fight back against the Democrats’ Supreme Court power grab.
“With leaders like Mitch McConnell, they are helpless to fight. He didn’t fight for the Presidency, and he won’t fight for the Court,” Trump exclaimed. “If and when this happens, I hope the Justices remember the day they didn’t have courage to do what they should have done for America.”
For Democrats to pack the Supreme Court and impose term limits to force conservative justices off the Court—three of the four longest-serving justices were appointed by Republican presidents—Democrats would have to first eliminate the legislative filibuster.
And while Democrats do not currently have the votes to wipe out the 60-vote threshold to end debate and pass bills with a simple majority vote, liberal activists hope months of hammering senators about the filibuster being a relic of Jim Crow will pressure fence-sitters like Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin to change their minds and support getting rid of the filibuster.
If that happens, court-packing becomes a very serious possibility.
