House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a giant problem on her hands.
And Democrats are raising hell over it.
That’s because this viral video of Nancy Pelosi has people asking if she has a serious problem.
This week, a viral video spread like wildfire on Facebook alleging to show Pelosi as drunk.
On Facebook, the video racked up two million views before the social media giant labeled it as “patently false” which then allows the platform’s algorithm to censor the video and suppress the number of users that can see it.
Censorship wasn’t enough for the left.
Multiple Democrats, as well as fake news CNN, demanded Facebook remove the video outright.
“Another week, another deceptive video going viral on Facebook—once again [email protected] If Facebook can’t defend against low-tech disinfo like this video, it’s clear they’re not ready for the threats that are coming our way in November. They need to do better. Now,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff wrote.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler claimed Facebook should decide what is true and what is not and remove any content Democrats declare false.
“Having recognized the manipulative content in this video, @Facebook should take it down entirely. It is not enough to just label this as fake. When lies and falsehoods are deliberately pushed, action is needed to stop them from spreading,” Nadler posted to social media.
Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Dingell also demanded Facebook take down the ‘dangerous’ video.
“Facebook must immediately take down this video and do better to combat disinformation on its platform. It’s dangerous to our democracy,” Dingell tweeted.
Facebook spokesman Andy Stone cited an incident last year where the platform removed a video where the footage was slowed down to make it look like Pelosi was slurring her words to prove to CNN that it was willing to outright ban content Democrats didn’t approve of.
“Following an incident over a year ago with a previous video of Speaker Pelosi, we took a number of key steps, making it very clear to people on Facebook when a third-party fact-checker determines content to be false and updating our policy to make explicit the kind of manipulated media we will remove,” Stone wrote to CNN.
This video may seem like a minor issue.
But what is the difference between parody and satire and doctored footage?
What line does Facebook use to decide when to remove content?
And are there any examples of Facebook taking down “doctored” videos that make Donald Trump look bad?
What’s really going on here is Schiff, Nadler, Dingell and fake news CNN want to be able to dictate to social media what content they allow on their platforms.
And that always means promoting posts and videos that advance the Democrat Party agenda and erasing anything that contradicts the Democrat Party narrative.
