Democrats are lining up for their chance to take on President Trump.
Among them are high-profile Obama officials.
And one of his officials just made a huge announcement about 2020.
Perhaps the most corrupt official during Obama’s Presidency was Eric Holder.
As Attorney General, he was constantly caught in scandals, including being the only sitting Attorney General ever to be found in contempt of Congress.
Among his many “accomplishments,” he ran the fast and furious gun smuggling operation.
Those guns are in the hands of some of the most dangerous drug cartels, with some being found to have killed border patrol officials.
Despite this, he continues to be a top figure in the Democrat Party.
During the 2018 midterm elections, he campaigned for Democrats across the country, including failed Florida Governor candidate Andrew Gillum.
While campaigning in Georgia, he took time to push forward a violent future of the party.
“No, no,” Holder said, referencing a quote from Michelle Obama. “When they go low, we kick ’em. That’s what this new Democratic Party is about.”
Throughout these stops, there has been a lot of speculation that he will run for President.
But in a shocking announcement, Holder revealed he is not running for President.
He told the Washington Post he will instead focus his efforts on another cause.
“Though I will not run for president in 2020, I will continue to fight for the future of our country through the National Democratic Redistricting Committee and its affiliates,” Holder said.
One effort in particular that Holder is supporting is doing away with the electoral college in lieu of a national popular vote.
This is an idea popular among Democrats, who feel it will benefit them in future elections.
After all, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote.
However, Holder’s reason to run in 2020 is likely because things don’t look good for him.
During the 2018 midterms, the two candidates he spent most time supporting were Governor candidates in both Florida and Georgia.
Despite Democrats initially having the edge in both states, the Republicans carried through with historic wins.
That is signaling to Holder that his support likely did next to nothing for those candidates, and even possibly hurt them.
Being as corrupt as Holder is, President Trump would have little trouble destroying him in debates.
Do you think Trump would easily beat Eric Holder?
