Donald Trump is depending on a united Republican front to receive exoneration in a Senate impeachment trial.
But there are cracks in the President’s wall of support.
And this top Republican made an impeachment threat that had all hell breaking loose.
The Democrats’ case for removing the President is laughably weak.
That’s why the focus of the impeachment trial shifted to Democrats’ demands that the Republican Senate majority consent to allowing Democrats to call whatever witnesses they want to conduct a limitless fishing expedition.
And in a worrying development for President Trump and his supporters, RINO traitor Senators Susan Collins, Mitt Romney and Lisa Murkowski made it known they are willing to vote to hear new witness testimony.
That means Democrats need to pick off one more Republican turncoat to gain control of the Senate impeachment trial.
However, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has a message for any Republican that wants to betray President Trump by joining the Democrats in turning the impeachment trial into a circus – and that is witnesses are a two way street.
If RINO traitors provide Democrats the votes to call John Bolton and other Democrat wish list witnesses, then simple fairness and due process dictate the President gets to call his witnesses.
And Senator Paul intends to force votes on calling Hunter Biden, Adam Schiff and alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella to testify.
Paul told POLITICO in an exclusive interview that any Republican that voted against the President’s witnesses would sign their own political death warrant.
“If you vote against Hunter Biden, you’re voting to lose your election, basically. Seriously. That’s what it is,” Paul explained. “If you don’t want to vote and you think you’re going to have to vote against Hunter Biden, you should just vote against witnesses, period.”
Paul went on to tell POLITICO that his first choice would be immediate dismissal of these phony articles of impeachment.
“My first preference would be to be done with it as soon as possible and not to have any witnesses,” Paul continued. “If they insist on having people like Bolton coming forward, my insistence will be not just one witness. But that the president should be able to call any witnesses that he deems necessary to his defense.”
Some pundits believe Paul’s move is a clever maneuver to maintain Republican unity.
RINO Senators may want to vote to call Biden to prove to independent voters that they created some “distance” from the President, but that the fear of conservative base backlash from voting against the President’s witnesses would push them to reject all witnesses altogether and move to end this impeachment farce as quickly as possible.
“Sometimes it’s good to have people unified. … I’m for immediate dismissal, but I know it’s not just four [senators]. There might be 10 that are against immediate dismissal. It’ll just be a vote that fails,” Paul added. “When it’s something that we’re trying to stay together and there is the other team trying to attack our leader, I think it behooves us to have as much unanimity as we can.”
Democrats want to drag this trial out as long as possible.
They know there is little chance of removing the President from office.
But they hope to kill the re-election chances of swing state Senators through death by a thousand cuts of negative headlines pouring out of an endless impeachment trial.
