Trey Gowdy played a key role in the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia investigation.
As he prepares to leave Congress, Gowdy is giving interviews about his thoughts on the matter.
And he sat in front of the camera and dropped one bombshell that is bad news for Trump.
Gowdy revealed he was fed up with the partisanship in Congress.
He complained that members entered the Russia investigation with a conclusion and worked backwards from there.
Gowdy also stated that too many members engaged in leaks that only served their political agenda and not the pursuit of the truth.
These complaints describe Democrat Adam Schiff to a ‘T’.
But the biggest bombshell in his interview was Gowdy expressing his appreciation for Robert Mueller being appointed as special counsel.
The Washington Examiner reports:
“Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., said Sunday congressional investigations are “terrible” and aren’t serious looks into issues facing the country.
Gowdy said on CBS’ “Face The Nation” Congress’ investigations are inherently political, leak like a sieve, and only seek to confirm the biases of the majority of members.
He included the House Intelligence Committee probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, an investigation he helped lead, in that assessment.
Gowdy said the investigation and other congressional probes make him glad special counsel Robert Mueller is doing his own investigation.
“I’m glad we have Bob Mueller. I’m glad we have an independent ball-and-strike caller, Congress has proven itself incapable of conducting serious investigations,” he said.”
Trump supporters see little to celebrate in the Mueller probe.
Mueller was appointed with one goal in mind: to produce the rationale for Congress to impeach Donald Trump.
That’s why his investigation has veered into probing whether Trump obstructed justice when he fired former FBI Director James Comey.
Comey’s firing has nothing to do with the election or alleged Russian interference.
But since there is no evidence of collusion – because it is a fake news hoax concocted by the Clinton campaign to explain her loss – Mueller needed another rationale to recommend Congress impeach the President.
Conservatives were puzzled that Gowdy would add his credibility to the Mueller probe.
The probe shouldn’t even exist.
Fair minded conservatives should be calling for it wrap up as quickly as possible so as not to drag into the 2018 or even the 2020 elections.
