Democrats spent years denying the truth.
But now they have no choice.
And that’s because Trey Gowdy dropped one reality check about voter fraud that destroyed the Democrats.
Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats failed to advance what Republicans called the “Corrupt Politicians Act.”
This legislation would neuter the ability of states to enforce voter ID laws while at the same time imposing universal mail-in voting and ballot harvesting in all 50 states.
Under this law, states mail unsolicited ballots to every voter and Democrat operatives could then collect them by the dozens to turn in.
Republicans ripped this scheme as a recipe for mass voter fraud to cement a permanent Democrat majority.
West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin floated a so-called “compromise” that included weak voter ID laws—someone could use a utility bill as a substitute—but that retained much of the original power grab to rig elections in the Democrats’ favor.
Socialist activist and failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams endorsed the plan including its voter ID provisions.
On “Fox News Special Report,” host Bret Baier noted that the Democrats reversed course on voter ID after polling data showed 80 percent of Americans supported voters proving who they say they are.
Trey Gowdy agreed and wondered “what is your issue with proving that you are who you are?”
“Yes, Bret. That was a long, long time ago, like maybe seven to 10days ago, when not only were they opposing voter I.D., they went to the Supreme Court to oppose voter I.D. And so I always ask the rhetorical question, what is your issue with proving that you are who you are? The problem with that poll, Bret, is all 18 percent that are opposed to voter I.D. are on the Democrat side of the House and the Senate. That’s the problem with the polling. They are not going to support it,” Gowdy stated.
Manchin’s “compromise” bill—which Abrams supported—included at least 15 days of early voting and voter ID measures.
But just a few months ago Abrams and other Democrats ripped a Georgia election integrity law that mandated at least 17 days of early voting and voter ID when eligible voters requested and returned a mail-in ballot as modern-day Jim Crow.
Democrats also know that the broad strokes of their election-rigging legislation are far more valuable a policy win than accepting voter ID is a defeat.
So they are willing to make the trade.
Republicans realized this and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell mocked the compromise as a power grab declaring that no Republican would support it either.
Democrats pinned their hopes for victory in the 2022 election on passing legislation to put the federal government in charge of elections and open the door to fraud in all 50 states.
Now the left is scrambling for a Plan B.
