Democrats wanted to avoid a brutal truth.
Now liberals can’t duck reality.
And that’s because Trey Gowdy dropped the hammer on Democrats about this massive defeat.
A Washington D.C. jury filled with Hillary Clinton donors acquitted Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann on charges he lied to the FBI in a meeting where Sussmann pumped the FBI with lies about Donald Trump’s campaign colluding with the Russians.
A Barack Obama judge oversaw the proceeding.
Despite the fact that the deck was stacked in Sussmann’s favor Democrats and their stenographers in the corporate media acted like the verdict rendered a damning judgement on special counsel John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Russian collusion hoax.
Trey Gowdy disabused Democrats of that delusion.
“I’m sorry to disappoint the left but this verdict does not end the Durham investigation,” Gowdy stated.
Gowdy explained to viewers that Durham’s job was to produce a report on the FBI’s conduct in starting the Russian collusion investigations – an investigation that was based on a falsehood.
“Durham’s job is to find out what led the FBI to do what they did way before September of 2016,” Gowdy continued.
Gowdy spoke from his experience as a former federal prosecutor and admitted that in a jury trial the outcome was out of the hands of prosecutors.
“Moreover, prosecutors do lose cases. It’s not the end of the world and it’s not the end of an investigation. Proving anything beyond a reasonable doubt is hard. And the only people who think it’s easy are people on television who’ve never had to do it,” Gowdy stated.
Gowdy expressed his belief that Durham’s prosecutors had a difficult job in trying to sell the jury on the fact that the FBI was victimized by Sussmann’s false statement when it was clear that the FBI knew Sussmann was a Democrat working for the Clinton campaign and because the FBI was a willing participant in the Russian collusion hoax.
“How would you like to sell that to a jury?” he said. “How would you like to convince the jury the FBI was somehow victimised by a lawyer the entire world knew was connected with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee,” Gowdy added.
“There’s a difference between being victimised and being duped. The FBI was duped wittingly or unwittingly. They took a meeting they should never have taken and they got played and that’s the FBI’s fault. So yes, somebody lost the trial this week. But it wasn’t John Durham. It was the FBI,” Gowdy exclaimed.
John Durham will still produce a report on the findings of his investigation.
If Republicans win control of Congress they will subpoena that report and have Durham testify before Congress.
And then the American people will see what corruption Durham uncovered.
