CNN pulled every dirty trick in the book to drive Donald Trump from office.
The left-wing propaganda channel concocted a variety of conspiracy theories and hoaxes to attack Trump.
But now Trey Gowdy just handed Donald Trump the biggest piece of revenge ever against CNN.
Former “Fox News Sunday” host and anti-Trump liberal Chris Wallace’s new CNN interview program bombed in the ratings.
CNN scheduled Wallace’s show to run head-to-head with Trey Gowdy’s Fox News show on Sunday nights.
The result was a lopsided route where Gowdy drew three times the audience as Wallace.
National Review reported:
Wallace’s new program reached 401,000 viewers, according to Nielsen ratings, down 29 percent from the average. The veteran newsman drew in 44,000 viewers in the all-important, advertiser-prized 25-to-54 demographic, down 64 percent from the average program…
…Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy, Fox’s program opposite Wallace on Sunday, garnered 1.3 million viewers. Wallace reportedly left the network in part over disagreement with other network personalities’ approach to covering Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, culminating in the January 6 Capitol riot.
Wallace jumped to CNN with much hype in the fall of 2021 announcing on the air at the conclusion of a “Fox News Sunday” broadcast that he was leaving the network.
Shortly thereafter, Wallace made it public that he was joining CNN.
Trump supporters were thrilled to see Wallace leave Fox News Channel figuring that Wallace would fit in much better with the rest of the Trump haters on CNN.
Wallace torched his reputation with conservatives after his biased performance as moderator of the first 2020 presidential debate.
During that event, Wallace bailed out Joe Biden multiple times by interjecting himself and cutting off President Trump when Trump was about to launch into an attack on Biden’s record.
Many conservatives watching that debate thought Wallace functioned as Joe Biden’s tag team partner.
When Wallace moved to CNN then-network president Jeff Zucker planned to feature Wallace as the number one star of CNN+ – the direct-to-consumer streaming service Zucker sunk $300 million into to position CNN for the future.
But CNN+ turned into the biggest flop in media history with just 10,000 viewers tuning in daily.
Even before CNN+ launched critics wondered why anyone would pay money to subscribe to CNN+ every month when so few Americans tuned in for free on TV.
Clearly no one was willing to pay to watch Chris Wallace’s anti-Trump diatribes.
CNN’s new management – which took over following the Warner Brothers Discovery merger – pulled the plug on CNN+ and tried to recoup some value on Wallace’s multi-million-dollar contract by moving Wallace to Sunday nights on linear cable.
But Trey Gowdy squashed Wallace in direct competition as Wallace drew a pathetically small audience.
