The Chinese government has a lot to answer for.
Beijing’s deceptions and cover-ups allowed the coronavirus to spread to over 180 nations around the world and paralyzed the global economy.
And Trey Gowdy stated three facts about China that had all hell breaking loose.
Now that the coronavirus outbreak peaked, Americans are looking to the government to reopen the economy and hold China accountable for this global catastrophe.
During an interview with Fox News, Trey Gowdy explained three ways the American government could make China pay for their cataclysmic failure.
The first action Congress could take – Gowdy explained – was amending the sovereign immunity law to allow American citizens to sue the Chinese government.
“We need a change in the law because of the Sovereign Immunity Act, which makes it almost impossible to sue other countries in U.S. District Court,” Gowdy stated. “You sue, you’re going to have the challenges of getting the information from China, the discovery, as we call it, in the legal realm.”
“And then the damages. I mean, if you’ve lost your life or lost your business or suffered injury, you’re entitled to damages,” the former South Carolina Congressman added.
China also aims to make the 21st century the “Chinese century.”
The Chinese government began bending international institutions like the World Trade Organization and World Health Organization to their will decades ago so that China could reorient the global community to isolate the United States and assume the role of the world’s number one superpower.
Gowdy stated that the United States and other world governments could band together to hold the line against China’s aggressive posture to dominate global affairs in the 21st century.
“There’s also a need, a responsibility for the world to hold China accountable,” Gowdy stated. “Well, let me say, if you cannot warn other countries that a pandemic has been unleashed, you have no business being a leader on the world stage.”
Gowdy also detailed how America could make China pay economically by moving supply chains out of China and back into America.
This would not inflict a meaningful toll on China, but it would boost America’s bottom line and protect American national security.
“And then there’s what our country can do. And I think where we can hit on the hardest there is to ostracize them, but also to reclaim our manufacturing, reclaim our pharmaceutical manufacturing in particular,” Gowdy added. “There are lots of ways we can hold China down.”
There is no question that once the pandemic winds down, America and other nations will turn to the question of how they will hold China accountable.
Trey Gowdy laid out a three-point plan to hold China accountable as well as advance American economic and national security.
Americans will expect President Trump and his administration to follow this roadmap.
