And as a leading member of the House Intelligence Committee, his work helped expose the FBI’s abuse of power in spying on the Trump campaign.
Now he just claimed another scalp.
The Department of Justice has agreed to turn over documents relating to the Obama administration’s Fast and Furious scandal.
Former Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress for stonewalling the production of these documents.
But thanks to Gowdy, Americans may finally learn the complete truth about the Obama administration running guns to murderous Mexican drug cartels so they could promote gun control.
The Daily Caller reports:
“The Justice Department announced Wednesday it would hand over documents related to the Obama-era Fast and Furious gun scandal to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform…
… The original Fast and Furious operation — conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — somehow allowed nearly 2,000 firearms to find their way into the hands of Mexican cartel members.
Firearms connected to the program were found at multiple crime scenes in both the United States and Mexico, including the murder scene of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
“The Department of Justice under my watch is committed to transparency and the rule of law,”
“This settlement agreement is an important step to make sure that the public finally receives all the facts related to Operation Fast and Furious.”
Amanda Gonzalez, Gowdy’s communications director, told The Daily Caller the Oversight Committee “seeks all relevant facts so we can learn from the mistakes made by the Justice Department.”
“We have a responsibility to uncover why they worked so hard to hide this information from the Committee, the family of Brian Terry, and the American people,” she added.”
When Barack Obama said his administration was scandal free, millions of Americans nearly spit out their drinks.
His administration was plagued with scandal from day one.
And one of the worst was Operation Fast and Furious.
2,000 firearms were placed in the hands of Mexican drug cartels and some were used in the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
It’s about time the American people got the truth and the guilty parties be held accountable.
