Robert Mueller finally made his move against Donald Trump.
The special counsel spent 18 months lying in wait for the perfect moment to strike.
And now Trey Gowdy’s worst fears about what Mueller was up to just came true.
When Gowdy sat on the House Intelligence Committee, he led the fight to expose the truth about how Barack Obama’s Deep State and the FBI abused their power by using the Christopher Steele fake news dossier to spy on the Trump campaign.
A then-FBI Director James Comey had signed off on breaking FBI protocol in order to use the unverified dossier to obtain a FISA warrant on former Trump campaign aide, Carter Page.
If the story were to end even there, it would already be one of the worst scandals in American political history.
But this story has no bottom.
And the worst was yet to come when Gowdy learned exactly how the FBI used the Steele dossier in their investigation into Donald Trump.
The New York Times just released a bombshell report revealing that after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017, the FBI opened a counterintelligence investigation into the President to try and frame him as a Russian agent.
Deep State agents at the top of the FBI realized the dossier was a gift that fell right into their laps.
Since the 2016 campaign, FBI leadership tried to use the fake news Christopher Steele dossier to frame Trump for colluding with the Russians.
That dog didn’t hunt because the stories in the dossier – like former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen traveling to Prague to meet with high-level Russians to hash out an agreement to rig the election – were so obviously false that no news outlet would dare run them.
But Trump firing Comey – as well as the FBI purposefully misconstruing that the President told NBC’s Lester Holt that he fired Comey because of the Russia investigation (the President told Holt he fired Comey even though it meant the investigation would drag on longer, which is the exact opposite of obstruction of justice) – set the wheels in motion for the FBI to take the unthinkable step of accusing the President of being a Russian spy.
The final nail in the coffin to convince FBI leadership that they needed to make their move against the President was the Steele dossier.
The New York Times reports:
Other factors fueled the F.B.I.’s concerns, according to the people familiar with the inquiry. Christopher Steele, a former British spy who worked as an F.B.I. informant, had compiled memos in mid-2016 containing unsubstantiated claims that Russian officials tried to obtain influence over Mr. Trump by preparing to blackmail and bribe him.
President Trump blasted the story on social media, tweeting, “Wow, just learned in the Failing New York Times that the corrupt former leaders of the FBI, almost all fired or forced to leave the agency for some very bad reasons, opened up an investigation on me, for no reason & with no proof, after I fired Lyin’ James Comey, a total sleaze!”
For over one year, Deep State agents –from James Comey to Rod Rosenstein to Special Counsel Robert Mueller – swore up and down that Trump was not a target of the investigation.
That was a lie.
The FBI leadership turned traitor on the President and used every means at their disposal – including fake news from foreign spies – to fabricate a story that the President was secretly a Russian agent so they could remove him from office.
It’s a nightmare that Republicans like Trey Gowdy cannot even begin to comprehend.
