One Democrat emerged from the 2018 midterms as the brightest rising star in the party.
Speculation immediately mounted that this Democrat would use the midterms as a launching pad for a top-tier challenge to Donald Trump.
But this Trump challenger was caught in a legal scandal that could end their career.
Stacey Abrams – whom critics call “Socialist Stacey” – is heavily rumored to jump into the 2020 Presidential election.
Abrams – who lost the 2018 Georgia Gubernatorial election – is a rock star with the Democrat base.
Abrams failed upwards into superstardom because of her race and gender.
The fake news media relentlessly promoted her failed 2018 campaign because she tried to become the first black female governor in the nation’s history.
At first, Abrams claimed she was not thinking of running for President until 2028.
But then she walked that back as Democrat activists clamored for her to enter the race in 2020.
And then a bombshell dropped.
Axios exclusively reported that, “Close advisers to former Vice President Joe Biden are debating the idea of packaging his presidential campaign announcement with a pledge to choose Stacey Abrams as his vice president.”
The appeal of Abrams to Biden was obvious.
Biden is a 77 year old, straight, white man in a party that believes white males represent “the patriarchy” and that formerly “marginalized” groups need to seize power.
Democrats obsess over identity politics.
Liberals judge a person’s worthiness to society by what they look like, their gender, or if they are a homosexual.
Biden represents everything Democrat activists want to bring down.
So Biden floated the idea of naming Abrams as his running mate to pre-empt criticisms a privileged white man was big-footing a diverse field of women and minority Presidential contenders.
But those plans went out the window as soon as they were floated.
However, it was not for any of the reasons people initially suspected.
Abrams would enter the race under a legal and ethical cloud.
After Abrams lost the Georgia Gubernatorial election, she formed a 501(c)4 non-profit group called Fair Action Fight.
The group claimed to fight for voting rights, but in reality, it wanted to enable voter fraud by eliminating voter ID laws that protect the integrity of elections.
Critics accused the group – which is subsidized by taxpayers by virtue of its non-profit tax status – of acting as a slush fund to promote Abrams political activities.
The watchdog group Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission accusing Fair Action Fight of spending $100,000 on Facebook ads promoting Abrams, hosting a fundraiser for Abrams, paying for travel on a “thank you” tour of Georgia after her defeat, and producing a video package of clips of Abrams on the group’s website.
Democrats already believe the constant drip of scandal is what helped sink Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.
The last thing they want is their presumptive nominee spending the next year fending off questions about unethical campaign behavior by the Vice Presidential nominee.
So it came to the shock of no one that advisors for both Biden and Abrams quickly popped this trial balloon.
Biden spokesman Bill Russo denied there was a “precooked” deal to name Abrams as Biden’s running mate.
“@JoeBiden has an enormous amount of respect for @staceyabrams (it is why he endorsed her!) — but these rumors about discussions on a pre-cooked ticket are false, plain and simple,” Russo stated.
Lauren Groh-Wargo – Abrams campaign manager – echoed Russo’s tweet.
She wrote in response, “@staceyabrams enjoyed meeting with @JoeBiden. There was no grand plan hatched and no additional conversations between the two of them or our teams since. She will meet with any potential or declared candidates for pres who ask while she keeps all options for herself on the table.”
