During the eight-year reign of Barack Obama, he continuously allowed the United States to be ripped off.
That was one of the major reasons Americans elected Donald Trump President.
And Trump just proved how little like Obama he is, and at the same time embarrassed Obama in the most Trump-like way every.
In the past year, President Trump has made great strides towards peace with North Korea.
Because of his leadership, North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, and Kim entered South Korea for the first time.
North Korea even released three U.S. citizens who were held captive.
But in recent days, they have changed their tone with the United States.
They have gone after multiple members of the Trump administration, including Vice President Mike Pence.
Because of this President Trump chose to cancel a planned meeting with Kim Jong Un.
He sent a letter to the North Korean leader, letting him know the meeting is canceled, and that he has the ability to change that if North Korea’s tone changes.
As reported by Breitbart:
“President Donald J. Trump detailed his decision to cancel a scheduled meeting with King Jong-un on Thursday, after publicly releasing a letter that he sent to the North Korean dictator.
“Nobody should be anxious,” he said. “We have to get it right.”
The president made his remarks to reporters during the signing ceremony of a Dodd-Frank reform bill at the White House on Thursday afternoon. He called it a “tremendous setback” for North Korea and for the world.
He said that he would continue to be open to the idea of a summit, even one on June 12, but only if denuclearization of the Korean peninsula was on the table.
“If and when Kim Jong-un chooses to engage in constructive dialogue and actions, I am waiting,” Trump said bluntly, adding that the economic sanctions against North Korea would stay in place as well as the campaign as maximum pressure.
He said that the United States military was prepared to defend allies in the region like Japan and South Korea and that they were willing to shoulder the financial burden.
“I hope that Kim Jong-un will ultimately do what is right,” Trump said, saying that the North Korean people deserved peace. “The bright and beautiful future can only happen when the threat of nuclear weapons is removed.”
In the letter to Kim, Trump said that the hostile statements from the regime made it impossible to have the meeting.
“Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting,” Trump wrote in the letter.”
This decision by Trump appears to fit one of the things he teaches in his best-selling book, Art of the Deal:
“Know when to walk away from the table.”
President Trump realized it is time to walk away from this deal.
That was something that former President Obama never realized when he negotiated terrible, one-sided deals, such as the Iran nuclear deal, which Trump has already left.
As President, Barack Obama would rather make legacy achievements to appease his left-wing base than actually have fruitful deals.
But Donald Trump is the master at negotiating who even wrote the book on deals, and he isn’t going to allow one-sided deals to go into effect while he’s in power.
