Trey Gowdy and Devin Nunes sent a letter to Donald Trump that has the Deep State quaking in their boots.
The FBI’s corruption and abuse of power in 2016 is slowly being revealed to the public.
And Gowdy and Nunes just asked President Trump to reveal the one horrible secret that could bring down Comey and the anti-Trump FBI for good.
Americans were stunned when they saw the contents of the FBI’s application for a FISA warrant to spy on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
The document confirmed the bombshells in House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes’s February memo where Nunes outlined the FBI’s abuse of power in using surveillance to target the Trump campaign.
But one month before the application’s release, the 13 Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee all signed a letter asking President Trump to declassify 21 pages of the document that had been redacted by the Justice Department.
This development was significant because even Trump critics like Congressman Will Hurd of Texas signed the letter claiming the FBI was hiding the real truth about obtaining a warrant to conduct their covert spying operations against Trump’s campaign.
Nunes and his fellow Republicans claim that the FBI misled the FISA court by using the unverified Christopher Steele dossier as the basis for obtaining a warrant.
FBI protocols dictate that only verified information can be used to obtain a FISA warrant.
The Republicans wrote:
“The Committee’s investigative findings include DOJ’s and FBI’s use of an unverified
dossier of memoranda that was not subjected to proper U.S. government verification and was not
handled according to FBI procedures. The FBI’s own Domestic Investigations and Operations
Guide prohibits the FBI from using unverified material to obtain a warrant under F ISA. The
unverified allegations in the dossier were nevertheless presented to the Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Court (FISC) to obtain a FISA warrant and three renewals on Mr. Page. DOJ also
presented a news article that was sourced from the author of the dossier. You declassified these
facts at the Committee’s request in February of this year.
Republicans hammered the fact that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had been slow walking their requests for the documents that would show what the FBI had really been up to during the 2016 election:
After months of stonewalling, including defying a lawfully issued subpoena, DOJ and
FBI finally agreed to permit select Committee members and staff to review the applications for
the FISA warrant and renewal applications at DOJ. DOJ and FBI continues to obstruct the
Committee’s further efforts to learn about the provenance and quality of the information used to
obtain the FISA warrant and renewals on Mr. Page.
Additionally, the Republicans wrote that 21 specific pages were being withheld through redaction that obscured the fact that the FBI used sketchy evidence and political gossip paid for by Donald Trump’s opponents as the basis to spy on his campaign:
To enable the public to understand the DOJ’s and FBI’s basis for obtaining the FISA
warrant and three subsequent renewals, we respectfully request that you declassify and release
publicly, and in unredacted form, pages 10-12 and 17-34, along with all associated footnotes, of
the third renewal of the FISA application on Mr. Page. That renewal was filed in June 2017 and
signed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.”
Do you think Donald Trump should declassify the 21 redacted pages of the Carter Page FISA warrant application?
