President Trump has become known for refusing to mince words.
His recent speech at the United Nations is a testament to that.
And one thing he said during the speech immediately set off a firestorm, angering millions of liberals.
The cause of the problems in Venezuela should be clear to anyone who has read a history book.
Socialism has always been a pathway to poverty and death.
Thankfully, President Trump understands that and isn’t shy about making it known.
While speaking at the United Nations, President Trump called out the problem in Venezuela, directly calling out the country’s leader, Nicolas Maduro.
On the floor of the United Nations, President Trump stated:
“The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented but that socialism has been faithfully implemented.”
The statement was met with stone cold silence, and eventually a small amount of applause.
Trump then went on to highlight the Soviet Union and Cuba as examples of how devastating the effects of socialism and communism can be.
This one statement sent a clear message to the world that the United States isn’t playing around.
As reported by the Washington Examiner:
“President Trump slammed Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and the very political system his country is based on for being a failure to the people of Venezuela.
“The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented but that socialism has been faithfully implemented,” he said in front of the United Nations General Assembly, which was greeted with a long pause and then some applause.
“From the Soviet Union to Cuba, Venezuela — wherever through socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish, devastation, and failure. Those who preach the tenets of these discredited ideologies only contribute to the continued suffering of the people who live under these cruel systems. America stands with every person living under a brutal regime.”
It’s the second time in as many days Trump as hit out at Maduro and the Venezuelan regime. On Monday, he spoke to a group of Latin American leaders about the need for them and the United States to restore freedom and democracy in the South American country.”
Liberals went into a frenzy of anger immediately.
With openly socialist politicians like Bernie Sanders receiving a large amount of Democrat support, they don’t really like to talk about the problematic history of socialism.
They have convinced themselves that even though socialism has failed every time it has been attempted, they can somehow implement it correctly.
The clear reality of the matter is that socialism doesn’t work, and will never work in practice.
Venezuela is on their way to becoming another case study proving the failures of socialism.
But hopefully, President Trump’s statement will have some impact in reversing the disaster that is occurring in Venezuela.
Even if it doesn’t, having the leader of the free world call out the problem by name is monumental.
