President Trump is Chuck Schumer’s worst enemy.
Trump is destroying his entire life’s work by decimating the Democrat Party.
And Trump just used the Pentagon to destroy Chuck Schumer on his biggest issue.
If there’s one thing people will remember Trump for, it’s his strong stance on border security.
While politicians in both parties have been ignoring the issue for decades, Trump is taking it head-on with bold proposals like building a wall on the border.
And Democrats are doing everything in their power to stop his agenda on the border because if he is successful, his 2020 win is in the bag.
A President following through on his campaign promises is a near foreign concept in America.
The last President to follow through on his promises was Ronald Reagan—who was able to win every state but one in his re-election.
So Democrats, with Chuck Schumer taking the lead, are working overtime to stop Trump from building the wall.
But Trump is pushing forward in a number of bold ways to work around them.
His most prominent push is declaring a national emergency to build the wall using military construction funds.
He is pushing that forward, despite having Democrats and a number of Republicans opposing him on it.
But now he has the Pentagon on his side of the fight.
On Monday, a letter was sent to lawmakers from the Pentagon which lists nearly $12.9 billion in unobligated military construction funds that can be used for Trump’s wall.
This proves what Trump has been saying since the beginning of his push for a national emergency.
We already have the funds for it and can easily fund the entire wall without needing to appropriate any new funds.
Democrats, of course, are furious about this news.
Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island is calling the move “a slap in the face to our military.”
“He is planning to take funds from real, effective operational priorities and needed projects and divert them to his vanity wall,” Reed said.
Reed’s statement shows either how little he understands, or how little he cares about the problem at the border and how military budgeting works.
The $12.9 billion in question is a small portion of the $716 billion annual military budget.
And there is perhaps no construction project more important for national security than building a wall on the border.
Borders are what separates the United States from the rest of the world and allow us to know who is in the country and protect ourselves against invaders.
The military spends billions of dollars overseas protecting other country’s borders, but Democrats don’t believe it’s important to do the same here.
