James Mattis’s resignation detonated like a nuclear bomb across Washington.
However, no one knew the real story behind his departure.
So all hell broke loose when President Trump revealed the shocking truth.
Mattis resigned because he disagreed with Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw American troops from Syria and end Barack Obama’s misguided war.
Trump campaigned on ending America’s involvement in nation building wars in the Middle East.
A then-candidate Trump pledged to put America first instead of the globalist agenda.
Trump’s decision was a bridge too far for the establishment-minded Mattis, so the Secretary of Defense submitted his resignation just before Christmas.
This was the official story as told by Mattis’s cheerleaders in the fake news media.
However, it was not the whole story.
During a press conference before a recent cabinet meeting, Trump shed further light on Mattis’s departure.
The President claimed he essentially fired Mattis.
“I hope he does well. But as you know, President Obama fired him, and essentially so did I,” the President told reporters. “I want results.”
Trump was referring back to 2013 when Obama fired Mattis as head of Central Command without even having the courtesy to inform him of his dismissal.
Journalist Thomas Ricks had reported on foreingpolicy.com at the time, “I am told that General Mattis was travelling and in a meeting when an aide passed him a note telling him that the Pentagon had announced his replacement as head of Central Command. It was news to him — he hadn’t received a phone call or a heads-up from anyone at the Pentagon or the White House.”
Obama fired Mattis because he disagreed with Obama’s strategy of appeasing Iran and allowing them to develop a nuclear weapon.
Mattis’s conflict with Trump was consistent with the establishment view that U.S. troops intervening in Middle Eastern nations is always a good thing.
Trump essentially firing Mattis rings true.
Mattis resigned because Trump disregarded his advice on waging endless war in Syria.
In his resignation letter, Mattis wrote that the President deserves a Secretary of Defense who shares his ‘America First’ vision.
Mattis clearly sympathized with the globalists.
Trump made that clear when he stuck to his guns on cleaning up Barack Obama’s mistake in Syria.
So by that point, Mattis had no choice but to resign.
Trump had already called into question Mattis’s record in Afghanistan.
U.S. troops have been stationed in that country since October 2001.
Having been over 17 years, it is the nation’s longest war.
Americans are fed up with the diminishing results and want the troops to come home.
Trump wanted to withdraw from Afghanistan in the summer of 2017, but Mattis and other globalists in the administration pushed him to instead adopt a surge of troops.
The President’s patience with the General’s support for endless war in Afghanistan finally ran out.
The President brought up the lack of success in Afghanistan as why Mattis’s resignation is not nearly the loss the fake news media and swamp politicians have made it out to be.
“Well, what’s he done for me? How has he done in Afghanistan? Not too good. Not too good. I’m not happy with what he’s done in Afghanistan,” the President declared. “And I shouldn’t be happy.”
Americans agree.
Trump’s ‘America First’ foreign policy played a major role in his victory.
And while the fake news may try to cover it up, Trump staying true to his promise to end America’s practice of defending other nation’s borders—while ignoring our own—is a winning and popular message.
We will keep you up to date on any new developments in this ongoing story.
