The 2020 election is rapidly getting closer and closer.
Democrats are working overtime to pick who they will send forward to challenge Trump.
And Trump was grinning from ear to ear after getting life-changing 2020 news.
No matter who challenges Trump in 2020, the President has a clear advantage.
The economy is doing better than it has in decades, with near-historic lows in unemployment.
Minority unemployment is at its lowest rate in American history, and the economy is booming due to his America First policies bringing jobs back to the United States.
So anybody who challenges Trump will have to convince voters that despite the booming economy, they will do better than Trump.
Some candidates are working that angle from the far-left, like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
And other candidates are sitting more in the center, working almost entirely off of anti-Trump hatred.
The two leading candidates in that category are Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg.
And as it turns out, Buttigieg is beginning to make massive gains in his overall uneventful campaign.
Despite being at the bottom of the pack since announcing, he is now within the top tier category in the key primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire.
Since September he has tripled his support in Iowa, making gains that no other candidate has been able to match.
Currently he sits in fourth place in both states, behind Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, and Elizabeth Warren.
But there is still time for him, and with his current momentum he could become the front-runner by next year.
CBS News is so confident that they list him among the four candidates with the best chances at winning the Democrat nomination.
Despite having very little experience in politics, only serving as Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, he clearly resonates with a certain percentage of the population.
His base of support is largely white middle and upper class Democrat voters.
But while that support may boost him in places like Iowa, he is running into a serious problem in other states where the minority vote is vital to Democrats.
Buttigieg has so far proven that he has virtually zero appeal among black voters.
In fact, he is polling at zero percent among black voters in South Carolina.
That lack of support is largely believed to be due to the fact that Buttigieg is gay.
Despite Democrats largely voting Democrat, polling shows that black voters oppose gay marriage by a large margin.
In fact, a national poll shows that 22 percent of non-white Democrats would never vote for a gay or lesbian candidate.
This news should prove to Democrats that Buttigieg would be a disaster against President Trump.
But the fact that he is climbing so rapidly in the polls shows that they are blind to this fact, and may be willing to nominate him, which is basically handing Trump an easy re-election campaign.
