According to Democrats, President Trump is doomed for re-election in 2020.
The entire mainstream media has been screaming that since his election.
But if Trump succeeds on this one issue he is virtually guaranteed to win re-election in 2020.
In recent months, Trump has made it clear that he is planning to impose tariffs on multiple countries, largely targeting China.
Following unfair trade deals, Trump has proposed tariffs worth as much as $60 billion on Chinese products.
Trump is targeting them due to intellectual property theft from American businesses.
As reported by Bloomberg:
“The Trump administration plans to impose tariffs worth as much as $60 billion on Chinese products as early as this week to punish Beijing for what the U.S. perceives as intellectual property theft from American businesses, according to two people familiar with the matter.
U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer is leading an investigation into China’s treatment of intellectual property, and policies that the U.S. believes force American companies to turn over their technological know-how as the price of doing business there. The administration is said to be considering wide-ranging tariffs on everything from consumer electronics to shoes and clothing made in China, as well as restrictions on Chinese investments in the U.S., according to people briefed on the matter.
The exact size and makeup of the sanctions could still change, said two people who spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions aren’t public. While Trump has repeatedly singled out China as a key trade violator, his toughest actions such as withdrawing from an Asia-Pacific trade pact — which excluded China — and slapping tariffs on steel have undermined relations with allies more than with the world’s second-biggest economy.
The U.S. Trade Representative’s office didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment.
The Washington Post reported earlier Monday that the administration planned to impose $60 billion worth of tariffs by Friday, after the president rejected a proposal by his officials to levy $30 billion in duties.”
Democrat leaders, along with some anti-Trump Republicans have been vocally opposed to Trump’s proposed tariffs.
They claim it will hurt working class families by increasing the costs of foreign-imported products.
But President Trump argues that the tariffs will both force foreign nations to propose fair trade deals, and also encourage manufacturing in the United States, which will create jobs.
And it appears that the American people agree with Trump on this issue.
A poll from I Side With shows that 62% of Americans agree the U.S. should increase tariffs on imported products from China.
Only 38% of those who responded do not agree with increased tariffs with China.
This is great news for Trump supporters, and greatly encourages the President in making this decision.
Americans clearly understand exactly why President Trump is taking such a strong position on this issue.
If the President enacts these tariffs, not only will he be supporting the will of the American people, but his decision could create thousands of jobs by encouraging made-in-America products.
