Dr. Anthony Fauci guided the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The controversial strategy to lockdown the country to slow the spread of the virus was Dr. Fauci’s brainchild.
But now Tucker Carlson asked this question that could get Dr. Fauci fired.
26 million Americans have now filed for unemployment.
These hard-working Americans lost their jobs because governors around the country adopted Dr. Fauci’s strategy of shutting off the economy and closing down businesses to enforce physical distancing guidelines.
Tucker Carlson is questioning the wisdom of this strategy.
During a recent broadcast, Carlson noted that eight states were “below the national average in coronavirus cases, and deaths, per capita.”
Carlson then noted that journalist and professor Wilfred Reilly crunched the numbers and found that a lockdown did not meaningfully decrease the coronavirus infection rate on a per capita basis.
“Are you surprised by this?” Carlson wondered. “Maybe you shouldn’t be. You can see the same trend at work in other countries. Sweden, most famously, has never locked down. Restaurants there have never closed. That country is still suffering from coronavirus, suffering more in fact than we are in the U.S. But the country’s epidemic appears to have peaked. And without locking down, Sweden has, and this is the key, has fared far better than other European countries that did lock down. That includes Britain, Italy, Spain and Belgium.”
Carlson was exasperated at the economic damage inflicted upon America – the nation teeters on the edge of a second Great Depression – without any thought being put into if the chosen strategy was wise and backed up by science.
“How can this be true?” Carlson continued. “It seems to contravene everything we hear all day long. ‘Lockdowns stop the virus.’ That’s what they tell us, almost always at high volume and with maximum outrage and self-righteousness daring us to disagree. But in fact, there’s not much evidence that it’s true.”
Carlson spoke for millions of Americans when he questioned why no one was questioning the wisdom of medical professionals advocating for America to enter a Great Depression without having any real science to back up their recommendation.
“This is insanity,” he concluded. “It is definitely not science. This is not science. It has nothing to do with the public’s health, much less the broader public interest. This is instead what happens when mediocre people suddenly find themselves with God-like power: deciding who can go outside, when people can get married, which medical procedures you’re allowed to have. That’s a feeling of omnipotence, and they like that feeling. It fills an empty place inside. They don’t want to give it up. They want it to last forever, even as the country dies. But it can’t last forever. Because it’s not their country. It’s ours.”
There is no doubt coronavirus is a serious threat to certain at-risk groups.
It is a nasty virus that can lead to bad outcomes.
But America is now inching toward 20 percent unemployment and wiping entire industries that may never come back.
And Tucker Carlson believes so-called “experts” like Dr. Fauci need to answer for the damage they caused.
