The United States Supreme Court finally pulled the trigger on overturning Roe v. Wade.
A regime of abortion on demand in all 50 states is over.
And Tucker Carlson revealed the one truth about the Supreme Court that Democrats fear the most.
The Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Roe removed the court from imposing abortion on the entire country and instead returned the matter of abortion to the states.
The principle of federalism – that since there is no right to abortion contained in the Constitution – meant it was up to the states to ban abortion.
“Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return the authority to the people and their elected representatives,” Justice Alito wrote for the majority in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
A funeral-like atmosphere descended on members of the corporate media – almost all of whom support abortion with no restrictions – and Democrats raged on Capitol Hill and in the streets that authoritarian dictatorship was one step closer to descending upon America.
Tucker Carlson mocked this posture and explained to viewers that the Democrats’ reaction to the decision showed that deep down liberals hate democracy.
Carlson explained that this decision enhanced democracy by allowing the people to vote on the issue of abortion.
“This particular ruling dramatically reduces the power of unelected judges to dictate the details of the lives of millions of Americans and returns that power to voters,” Carlson stated. “Voters get to decide how they want to live. That’s an extreme ideology that upsets the balance of power somehow? We thought that was the whole premise of our system. We thought that was democracy.”
Carlson continued by telling viewers that the same people on the left who claim Donald Trump attacked institutions now railed against the Supreme Court as illegitimate.
“And yet the very people who have been lecturing us for years about democracy – ‘It’s the end of democracy’ – are horrified by the return of democracy,” Carlson added. “They’re telling us the legitimacy of our institutions is at risk. And yet they cannot allow voters to have a say in how they live. What does that tell you? It tells you they care about power, not popular support. They’re afraid to put their ideas to the test of a vote.”
Democrats hate democracy because they know their ideas are unpopular.
The left won their major culture war victories – homosexual marriage, abortion on demand, special rights for transgenders – through the Supreme Court and not the ballot box.
And liberals are terrified about the Supreme Court returning the question of abortion to the states and putting abortion up for a vote because liberals know they will lose.
