Tucker Carlson is the unquestioned number one star at Fox News Channel.
But Carlson finds himself in a dust-up.
And that’s because Tucker Carlson said two words that will cause big problems at Fox News.
Tucker Carlson was one of the rare Fox News personalities defending the conservatives opposing Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the House.
Carlson understood that the conservatives held together to stop McCarthy from empowering the swamp to run roughshod over the American people by holding unchecked power to pass trillion-dollar spending bills and grant amnesty to illegal aliens.
But virtually everyone at Fox News came down on the side of the Republican establishment and berated the conservatives to throw in the towel and appoint McCarthy speaker of the House.
Fox News contributor Ben Domenech was among the on-air talent at the network hammering the conservatives for sticking by their principles and trying to force change in Washington.
Domenech even went so far as to compare them to terrorists for blocking McCarthy on ballot after ballot.
“The way that they’ve gone about trying to achieve these demands has resulted in essentially this terrorist standoff between them and the overwhelming majority of people in their conference,” Domenech exclaimed.
Carlson took Domenech — as well as other pundits — to task for this inflammatory language during a monologue on his show.
In his remarks, Carlson praised the conservatives for forcing open debate on the floor of the House of Representatives and called pundits like Domenech who criticized them part of the “moron community.”
“This is what democracy looks like when you get up close,” Carlson began. “I want one thing, you want another thing. We schedule a vote to see who gets it, or in this case 11 votes, but whatever. But how is that disaster? Well, it’s not a disaster. It’s how the system is supposed to work. But don’t tell the moron community that.”
“They’re so excitable,” Carlson added.
Carlson then played a clip of talking heads on Fox and other networks attacking the McCarthy opposition going so far as to call Domenech a “buffoon” for comparing the conservative holdouts to terrorists.
“Then another one of the buffoons in the clip you just saw went further and called the whole thing terrorism, which is the remorseless use of violence against a civilian population to effect a political goal,” Carlson stated.
In the end, the conservatives extracted significant concessions from McCarthy about rules for spending bills and key committee assignments that give the House Freedom Caucus veto power.
Under these rules McCarthy cannot just stick members with a multi-trillion-dollar socialist spending bill and block any chance to amend or stop the bill.
Tucker Carlson said this was democracy in action and a win for conservatives when many pundits on the right were calling for surrender to the swamp.
