The shocking tragedy at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas left Americans stunned and outraged.
Democrats seized on the moment to score political points at Donald Trump’s expense.
And Walmart made one shocking decision that could put the company out of business.
When a deranged gunman murdered innocent shoppers at Walmart, gun grabbers pounced.
Anti-gun fanatics celebrate mass shootings as a chance to go on the offensive to ban and confiscate firearms.
But pro-gun groups like the National Association for Gun Rights led a grassroots campaign to oppose any new gun control.
As the days and weeks passed, gun grabbers saw the momentum behind their push to disarm Americans ebb.
So they resorted to the new favorite tactic of the left – corporate-enforced liberalism.
Liberals pressured Walmart over the retail giant’s policy on allowing customers to open carry and to sell firearms ammunition.
Walmart – as so many corporations do – caved to the pressure and announced it would ban sales of handgun and rifle ammunition.
CEO Doug McMillon announced these policy changes in a staff memo this week:
“After selling through our current inventory commitments, we will discontinue sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips on military-style weapons,” McMillon’s memo read.
The memo also announced Walmart’s intention to demand customers no longer open carry on store premises.
“There have been multiple incidents since El Paso where individuals attempting to make a statement and test our response have entered our stores carrying weapons in a way that frightened or concerned our associates and customers,” McMillon’s memo added. “These incidents are concerning and we would like to avoid them, so we are respectfully requesting that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores or Sam’s Clubs in states where ‘open carry’ is permitted — unless they are authorized law enforcement officers.”
McMillon anticipated a backlash from Walmart’s rural customer base and tried to claim the company embracing the anti-gun agenda was supposed to help reduce mass shootings.
“We know these decisions will inconvenience some of our customers, and we hope they will understand,” McMillon said. “As a company, we experienced two horrific events in one week, and we will never be the same.”
“We are trying to take constructive steps to reduce the risk that events like these will happen again,” McMillon said.
Conservatives were not buying this corporate cowardice.
Tucker Carlson ripped Walmart’s decision declaring “Walmart, after having destroyed American retail and made this country much uglier, and empowered the fascist government of China, has a lot of brass lecturing the rest of us about anything at all. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”
Gun owners could boycott Walmart.
And given the retail giant’s rural customer base, that could prove deadly to Walmart’s future.
