Since the day President Trump took office, Democrats have worked to take him down.
To do that they have gone after everyone close to the president.
And you won’t believe who their latest target is, who they are attempting to subpoena.
Last week, the Democrats had a major loss in their push to take down President Trump.
When Republicans grilled FBI agent Peter Strzok for his bias while investigating both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, it was easily proven to the American people that the Justice Department is corrupt.
With Democrats relying on the Justice Department to take down Trump, that is very bad news for them.
So instead of trying to defend Strzok and disprove the belief held by many Americans that he is proof of corruption, they are turning the attention to somebody else entirely.
Their latest target is former Trump advisor Steve Bannon.
Bannon was an ally for President Trump for a long time.
From his time serving as the CEO of Breitbart News, where he accurately covered Trump when almost nobody else would, to serving as Trump campaign CEO, and later presidential advisor, he was always an ally.
But along with being an ally to President Trump, he was perhaps the biggest enemy to Democrats.
They turned Bannon in a villain, trying to claim that he’s a racist, a fascist, or even a Nazi.
There is perhaps nobody close to Trump who was treated more unfairly than Bannon.
And even with him no longer being associated with Trump, they haven’t forgotten about him.
Following the Strzok hearing, two Democrats sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte and to House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy requesting they order Bannon to a hearing.
They feel as though Bannon’s position on the Trump campaign makes him a relevant witness, as he has knowledge of law enforcement actions related to the Russia investigation into Trump.
But while that is their stated reason, it is very likely that they a more insidious plan for Bannon if he is hauled before Congress.
One of the most memorable moments of the Strzok hearing was when Chairman Bob Goodlatte threatened to hold Strzok in contempt of Congress for not answering questions under the advice of FBI counsel.
Strzok later answered the questions, after getting the green light from FBI counsel, but that threat still angered many Democrats.
Democrats very likely could be looking to turn the tables on Republicans and do the same to Bannon.
Earlier this year Bannon came under fire for refusing to answer questions before the House Intelligence Committee, citing executive privilege.
It is alleged that White House counsel told Bannon not to say anything about his work on the Trump campaign to Congress.
They could attempt to use the same logic that Goodlatte used on Strzok to force criminal charges on Bannon.
That likely won’t work for a few reasons.
First of all, Bannon is no longer a member of the Trump administration.
Second, he has not been tied to any corruption within the government.
Regardless, they are willing to do anything to take him down.
