Democrats have good reason to be nervous.
Not only are the polls tightening in battleground states, but the Trump administration is getting ready for a major law and order crackdown.
That became clear when William Barr had a phone call about charging this top Democrat with a crime.
Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters commandeering six blocks in Seattle by chasing out the police and setting up the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone symbolized the ineffective response by Democrat mayors to a summer of rioting and lawlessness.
Rioters effectively operated their own country inside Seattle’s city limits while the fake news media and Democrat Mayor Jenny Durkan claimed it was a “block party” and a “summer of love.”
That all came to an end when the situation turned deadly and at least one innocent boy was shot and killed by the Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters.
Police eventually cleared out the rioters.
Attorney General William Barr was not satisfied.
The New York Times reported that Attorney General Barr held a call with federal prosecutors to discuss if they could bring charges against Mayor Durkan for enabling the mayhem.
The Attorney General has also asked prosecutors in the Justice Department’s civil rights division to explore whether they could bring criminal charges against Mayor Jenny Durkan of Seattle for allowing some residents to establish a police-free protest zone near the city’s downtown for weeks this summer, according to two people briefed on those discussions. Late Wednesday, a department spokesman said that Mr. Barr did not direct the civil rights division to explore this idea.
For her part, Mayor Durkan tried to shift blame from her own conduct to rant about the Department of Justice under Attorney General Barr.
“The Department of Justice cannot become a political weapon operated at the behest of the President to target those who have spoken out against this administration’s actions,” Durkan ranted. “That is an act of tyranny, not of democracy.”
Seattle’s mayor was not the only Democrat Attorney General Barr considered bringing criminal charges against for dereliction of duty.
The New York Times also reported that the Department of Justice considered criminal and civil rights charges against officials in Democrat-run Portland for allowing Antifa and Black Lives Matter to riot for over 100 straight days.
“The Justice Department explored whether it could pursue either criminal or civil rights charges against city officials in Portland, Oregon, after clashes erupted there night after night between law enforcement and demonstrators, a department spokesperson said Thursday,” The New York Times exclusively reported.
While no charges were brought this time, Democrats are now on notice.
The Department of Justice under Attorney General Barr will seriously consider charging Democrat officials with crimes if they allow anarchy and mayhem to rule their city streets.
