The scandal surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop is mushrooming.
Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” could be the biggest scandal of the Biden administration.
And now William Barr had a surprising answer when asked about Joe Biden facing jail time.
Fox News anchors John Roberts and Sandra Smith asked former Attorney General Barr about how Barr described what he knew about the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden’s financial dealings in foreign countries like Communist China and Ukraine.
Barr responded that he couldn’t comment freely because the investigation was still ongoing, but that he told President Trump he could not inject the notion of Hunter Biden being under criminal investigation into the 2020 election.
“I’m limited to what I can say, I don’t want to discuss ongoing possible investigations but my reaction to the president there was resisting the idea of injecting a criminal investigation of one of the candidates’ children into the race when there has not been definitive judgment over at the Department of Justice,” Barr told Smith and Roberts.
While Barr said he could not comment on the investigation into Hunter Biden because the matter was ongoing, Barr told Fox News that he was “very disturbed” by the fact that Joe Biden openly lied that the emails on Hunter Biden’s laptop were a Russian disinformation operation.
“So, I made it clear I was not going to discuss criminal cases with him, especially ones he might have an interest in. So, I would still do that today, but I was very disturbed during the debate when candidate Biden lied to the American people about the laptop,” Barr continued.
In that debate, President Trump attacked Biden over the allegations of corruption contained on the laptop and Biden willfully lied to the public claiming the emails were fabricated by the Russians.
Former Attorney General Barr also whacked the media for ignoring the Director of National Intelligence and the FBI stating for a fact that the laptop was authentic.
“He [was] squarely confronted with the laptop and suggested it was Russian disinformation and pointed to the letter written by intelligence people, it was baseless, which he knew was a lie, and I was shocked by that, and fortunately the DNI came out and said no it’s not, and FBI said the same thing, media ignored it,” Barr added.
Some of the emails on Hunter Biden’s laptop implicated Joe Biden in Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings including one that referred to a deal with a Communist Chinese energy company that included “10 percent for the big guy.”
John Roberts asked Barr if Joe Biden faced any legal issues over the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop.
“Do you think there is a legal liability for the president here? Perhaps not while in office?” Roberts asked Barr.
Barr did not dismiss the idea of legal exposure for Joe Biden.
“I wouldn’t want to venture an opinion on that,” Barr responded.
Sandra Smith tried to ask the question another way wondering if Jen Psaki changing her public responses to questions about Hunter Biden’s laptop indicated that the administration understood how perilous this scandal really was.
“Suddenly Jen Psaki cannot comment on something she has commented on many times before. Does the White House have a problem here?” Smith asked.
Once again, Barr did not reject the idea of Joe Biden facing legal jeopardy.
“I think now, you know, from a political standpoint, now this is in people’s consciousness, it had been suppressed up until now, obviously they have a hot potato, and to see how they handle it will be interesting,” Barr stated.
