Virginia’s Lt. Governor-elect Winsome Sears is not the typical Republican that rolls over at the first sign of corporate media criticism.
CNN learned that lesson.
And Winsome Sears destroyed one CNN anchor’s big lie with one brutal reality check.
Lt. Governor-elect Sears appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” where host Dana Bash tried to undercut Sears on the issue of teaching critical race theory in schools.
Bash began the questioning by falsely claiming critical race theory was not part of Virginia’s curriculum.
“You opposed critical race theory taught in schools — which I should say is not part of Virginia’s curriculum. You did say, though, that the good and the bad of American history should be taught and that we should also tell viewers you’re the former vice president of the Virginia board of education. Explain how you think race should be taught in Virginia public schools,” Bash began.
Corporate media members like Bash began parroting this falsehood after Republicans swept the Virginia elections due in part to a parental backlash to teachers indoctrinating children with racist critical race theory.
Sears was wise to the game Bash played and fact-checked the CNN anchor in real time.
“Well, let me back up. I beg to differ that CRT is not taught,” Sears responded.
Bash tried to weasel out of being called on her falsehood by trying to parse the definition of critical race theory being taught in schools and being part of the curriculum.
“I didn’t say that. I said it’s not in the curriculum just to be clear,” Bash stated.
That did not fly with Sears.
Sears explained the absurdity of the claim that critical race theory was not part of Virginia’s curriculum by pointing out that former Democrat Governor Terry McAuliffe’s administration instructed schools to weave critical race theory into lesson plans.
“No, it is weaved in and out of the curriculum. In 2015, former governor, who was just defeated, McAuliffe, his state board of education had information on how to teach it, so it’s weaved in. So you know, it’s semantics, but it’s weaved in. What we want to say and what governor-elect Youngkin has said is that all of history must be taught, the good, the bad and the ugly. Because what we learn from history is that we don’t learn from history, and we continue to repeat the same mistakes,” Sears added.
Sears contended that you can teach the good and the bad of American history without lying about America.
Critical race theory spreads the racist lie that white supremacy dominates every institution in the country.
Left-wing activists in schools also use the racist ideology to twist children into hating their classmates based on their skin color.
The corporate media hit the panic button over critical race theory after Sears and other Republicans in Virginia flipped voters in suburban counties that previously supported Joe Biden by promising to ban critical race theory and other bizarre left-wing ideologies from schools.
The corporate media exists to help Democrats win elections so members of the corporate media are now trying to gaslight Americans with a falsehood about critical race theory not being taught in schools.
