It is increasingly likely that Joe Biden will not seek re-election in 2024.
But that raises the question of who will replace him.
And you won’t believe who predicted that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will run for president.
Dick Morris played key roles in various points during Bill Clinton’s rise to power.
Morris helped mastermind Clinton’s turnaround following the 1994 Republican revolution by pushing Clinton to adopt the strategy of “triangulation” – meaning stealing Republican ideas on crime, welfare, and cutting spending while claiming credit for them.
Now Morris is wading into the presidential waters again predicting that Joe Biden will not seek re-election in 2024 and that a four-person field will compete for the nomination.
Pete Buttigieg.
Cory Booker.
Kamala Harris.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – who Morris predicts will eventually square off with late-entrant Hillary Clinton in the ultimate battle to see who the Democrats will nominate to take on Donald Trump.
New York Post columnist Miranda Devine summarized comments Morris made on New York City radio where Morris explained that the Democrat Party nomination will come down to a contest of identity politics.
Morris contended that Ocasio-Cortez checked the most demographic boxes and that the socialist base of the party would rally around her candidacy.
Devine wrote:
Morris contends that the Democratic establishment will first get behind Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, whose command of $2 trillion in patronage and jobs via his portfolio gives him an advantage in campaign contributions. On the identity politics card, which is the prerequisite for any Democratic candidate, he ticks the “gay” box, but Morris says that won’t win him black votes.
Instead, a black candidate like Cory Booker will enter the field.
While Kamala Harris ticks two boxes, “female” and “black,” her intractable unpopularity and poor performance as vice president would see her drop out of the primaries before Iowa, as she did in 2016, unless she is a masochist.
The vacuum she leaves will set off “momentum for a woman [candidate] that will benefit Hillary’s candidacy.”
The Democrats’ progressive wing will back AOC, the heir to Bernie Sanders, who ticks two boxes: “female” and “person of color.”
AOC conveniently turns 35 on Oct. 13, 2024, three weeks before the election, meaning she will be constitutionally eligible to be president.
Morris also forecast that Hillary Clinton would see Ocasio-Cortez as a guaranteed loser against Trump and enter the race as the party establishment’s white knight.
Clinton hinted this would be the case as one of the early steps she’s taken toward running for president in 2024 is calling out Ocasio-Cortez and other socialists for adopting policy positions such as open borders and defunding the police that render Democrats unelectable in swing states.
It’s likely Ocasio-Cortez will one day run for president.
The socialist congresswoman said that she doesn’t plan on staying in the House of Representatives forever.
But will 2024 really be the year she jumps into the presidential race?
Former Clinton advisor Dick Morris thinks so.
