Adam Schiff’s turn as the lead prosecutor in the Senate impeachment trial may have ended in a humiliating defeat.
But Schiff’s performance only served to win a legion of followers on the left.
And you won’t believe who wants Adam Schiff to run for president in 2020.
The Iowa Caucus ended in a dumpster fire of a disaster for the Democrats.
An app that Democrats planned to use to report vote totals broke down and no results were released until 5PM the next day.
24 hours later only 71 percent of the vote was known and despite Bernie Sanders receiving the most votes, former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg led the convoluted state delegate equivalent which fake news media outlets agreed to use as the metric to decide the winner.
Buttigieg took every opportunity to appear on fake news programs declaring victory despite the fact that around 30 percent of the vote was still out and the race was too close to call.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Joe Biden face-planted in Iowa.
Biden tried to win Iowa.
His campaign staged a bus tour across the state and Biden relentlessly campaigned in Iowa for the two weeks four of his main rivals were stuck in Washington thanks to Adam Schiff and the impeachment witch hunt.
The inconclusive result in Iowa led to many pundits believing there was a strong chance no candidate arrived to the national convention this summer in Milwaukee with the requisite number of delegates to cinch the nomination on the first ballot.
Every four years political journalists fantasize about a brokered convention where the campaigns wheel and deal on the floor and in the backroom to convince delegates they should be the presidential nominee.
But this year the weak frontrunner in Biden and the stronger than expected challenge from Sanders leads many political pros to see a convention fight to determine the nominee as a stronger possibility than in years past.
On MSNBC’s coverage after the Iowa Caucus, host Chris Matthews discussed the odds of a brokered convention and speculated that in the event no candidate reaches the delegate threshold to win the nomination that the delegates could turn to a candidate not in the race to unify the fractured party.
In Matthews’ mind that candidate was none other than Adam Schiff.
Matthews – however – was not the only old lefty to float the idea of an Adam Schiff Presidential campaign.
Hollywood Icon Barbra Streisand expressed her desire to see Adam Schiff enter the Presidential contest.
“Adam Schiff is so impressive. His knowledge of the law… his passion… his articulateness. His sincerity!” Barbra Streisand said, pouring praise on the partisan lawmaker. “He speaks the truth and would make a great president.”
There is no doubt Schiff used the impeachment witch hunt to raise his political profile in preparation for a bid for higher office.
But insiders expected that would be a run for Senate or Speaker of the House once Nancy Pelosi retires.
