California Congressman Devin Nunes turned into one of the biggest thorns in the side of the Deep State.
But liberals cheered as Congressman Nunes announced he was leaving Congress at the end of the month.
And you won’t believe why Devin Nunes actually retired from Congress.
With the Republicans looking extremely likely to win back Congress in the 2022 midterms Congressman Devin Nunes stood to gain a significant promotion.
A Republican win in 2022 meant Congressman Nunes would chair the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.
Instead, Nunes took a different job promotion.
Congressman Nunes sent an email to his constituents announcing his retirement from Congress at the end of 2021.
“Recently, I was presented with a new opportunity to fight for the most important issues I believe in. I’m writing to let you know I’ve decided to pursue this opportunity, and therefore I will be leaving the House of Representatives at the end of 2021,” Nunes’ retirement statement read. “I will deeply miss being your congressman. It’s been the honor of a lifetime to represent you, and I thank you for the trust you put in me through all these years. It’s also been my privilege, as Chairman and then Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, to meet with members of our armed services and our intelligence agencies throughout the world — I’m awed by the sacrifices these patriots make in service to their nation.”
Nunes became a star in the conservative movement during his time as the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee where Nunes produced a report outlining the FBI’s abuses of power in the Russian collusion hoax.
The corporate media sneered at Nunes’ report as misleading and false.
But Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report on the FBI’s use of the Steele dossier led to 17 significant errors and omissions in the FBI’s application for a FISA warrant to spy on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
Instead, Nunes will take over as CEO of the Trump Media & Technology Group as Trump launches a new social media platform.
Donald Trump announced the hire in a statement.
“Congressman Devin Nunes is a fighter and a leader. He will make an excellent CEO of TMTG,” Trump’s statement read. “Devin understands that we must stop the liberal media and Big Tech from destroying the freedoms that make America great. America is ready for TRUTH Social and the end to censorship and political discrimination.”
Nunes’ statement on taking over as the CEO of the Trump Media & Technology Group explained that Trump’s new social media site was necessary to fight back against Big Tech’s censorship of conservative views.
“The time has come to reopen the Internet and allow for the free flow of ideas and expression without censorship. The United States of America made the dream of the Internet a reality and it will be an American company that restores the dream. I’m humbled and honored President Trump has asked me to lead the mission and the world class team that will deliver on this promise,” Nunes wrote.
Trump’s launching a new social media site ahead of an increasingly likely 2024 presidential comeback bid.
When Facebook, Twitter and YouTube banned Trump from all social media everyone assumed that meant the end of Trump’s political career.
But Trump’s new social media platform will change that calculus and Devin Nunes taking over as CEO shows that this new social media site will be a major endeavor that will allow Trump to communicate with tens of millions of Americans.
