Donald Trump and Joe Biden met for the first presidential debate.
Fitting for the year 2020, the story involved troops on the street.
And you won’t believe why the military was called out for the presidential debate.
Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio served as the site for the first presidential debate.
But because Donald Trump was in town, the left’s traveling rogue’s gallery of Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters figured to descend on Cleveland and cause mayhem.
Democrat mayors and governors across America sat back all summer and allowed thugs and hooligans to torch buildings and loot businesses.
Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine was not about to let that happen.
That’s why Governor DeWine signed an order activating 300 National Guard troops to help provide security in Cleveland for the debate.
“After receiving a formal request from Cleveland officials last night, I am issuing a proclamation today that activates around 300 @OHNationalGuard members to help @CLEPolice ensure a safe and secure environment for those attending Tuesday’s presidential debate in Cleveland,” DeWine wrote on social media.
The city of Cleveland also put in place security precautions similar to the 2016 Republican National Convention.
Cleveland.com reported:
The Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University are hosts of the debate at the Sheila and Eric Samson Pavilion on the Clinic’s campus. Barricades and a significant law enforcement presence greeted motorists traveling the usually busy streets Monday around the campus.
Villa shoe store at the corner of East 79th Street and Euclid Avenue was one of the most prominent buildings near the Clinic to board up its windows, shades of downtown Cleveland which saw some business looting after the May 30 George Floyd protests downtown. First-floor residents of some neighboring apartment buildings also covered their windows with plywood.
The governor calling in the National Guard and city officials erecting a massive security apparatus are only necessary because Democrats have completely embraced political violence.
When Black Lives Matter rioters began burning American cities, Democrats latched on to the rioters as a means to achieve political power.
Democrats quickly realized that they could use the rioters to argue that Donald Trump had lost complete control of the country and that unless the American people voted for Joe Biden as President, the riots would continue.
This line of reasoning became so pervasive in mainstream Democrat thinking that Joe Biden himself even issued a direct threat to the American people that unless he won the Presidency, his voters would keep rioting.
But leaders in the state of Ohio are taking the Democrats’ support for rioting and violence seriously and are putting in place measures to keep the peace and protect lives and property.
