As the presidential election approaches, the stakes for the legislative fights between Donald Trump and Nancy Pelosi only increase.
And Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats just got some bad news.
That’s because Donald Trump just dealt Nancy Pelosi a defeat that left her staggering in a daze.
The Senate recently passed a $740 billion National Defense Authorization Act to fund the military for the coming year on an 86-14 vote.
President Trump threatened to veto the bill over an amendment by Elizabeth Warren that would rename military bases named after Confederate soldiers as well as desecrate military graves by smashing and removing monuments on graves of Confederate soldiers.
The legislation passed with a veto-proof majority so fake news reporters scoffed at the President’s threat, and Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats thought they were going to roll the President.
But President Trump had an ace up his sleeve.
“I spoke to highly respected (Chairman) Senator @JimInhofe, who has informed me that he WILL NOT be changing the names of our great Military Bases and Forts, places from which we won two World Wars (and more!). Like me, Jim is not a believer in ‘Cancel Culture,’” the President wrote.
Chairman Inhofe promised Trump that once the House and Senate went to conference committee to resolve the differences between the two bills, Elizabeth Warren’s base renaming and grave desecration amendment would be stripped out of the legislation.
The Daily Oklahoman reported on an exclusive interview with Chairman Inhofe:
Inhofe, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, also predicted that a provision would be removed from the bill that requires the 10 military bases named after Confederate generals to be renamed. Inhofe said he spoke with President Donald Trump on Thursday about the provision, which the president and Inhofe oppose.
“We’re going to see to it that provision doesn’t survive the bill,” Inhofe said. “I’m not going to say how at this point.”
Contrary to the fake news media’s lies that the President is fighting a dead-end battle on behalf of “dead racist traitors,” the American people are with the President and oppose the Democrats’ schemes to erase American history.
A recent ABC-Ipsos poll found 56 percent of Americans oppose renaming military bases named after Confederate military officers.
Other polls show a rising plurality of voters oppose cancel culture.
The President would like to define the election as a choice between America as the nation has known it – where tolerance, diversity of thought and free speech are core values – and Joe Biden and the Democrats’ desire to impose cancel culture on the United States where only the progressive left feels free to express their views in public.
The President winning on the issue of renaming military bases will be one step toward showing the nation that the left-wing authoritarian tide of cultural revolution can be reversed.
