Joe Biden made a major 2024 decision.
And Joe Biden’s blockbuster resignation announcement has Democrats in panic mode.
Joe Biden claims he is running for re-election.
To that end, Biden and his team are trying to turn lemons into lemonade in a difficult environment by trying to limit the growing number of political headaches facing Biden and the Democrat Party.
Chief of Staff Jeff Zients wants all Cabinet officials who are considering resigning to do so immediately and not hem and haw about their future.
“White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients has been quietly calling members of President Biden’s Cabinet to deliver a subtle message: If you plan to leave, please do so in the next few months,” Axios reports.
Biden wants any Cabinet officials who want out to tender their resignations immediately so Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer can schedule confirmation votes before the 2024 election heats up.
Axios reports:
Why it matters: Biden’s Cabinet will play a key role in his re-election campaign, as he contrasts his accomplishments with what’s likely to be a nasty fight among GOP contenders. Republicans will be eager to tweak the White House, so Biden’s team wants to avoid any confirmation battles in an election year.
For now, Zients wants to be able to move quickly if any Cabinet replacements are needed. He also wants to let them know they’re valued.
Republicans are looking for ways to draw attention to what they view as Biden’s biggest policy failures. A Senate confirmation fight over a Cabinet post would give them that chance — and could force vulnerable Senate Democrats to take a potentially difficult vote.
Polls show Joe Biden with an approval rating in the low 40-percent range.
The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows the public thinks the country flew off the rails under Biden as just 14 percent believe America is heading in the right direction on Biden’s watch.
An AP-NORC poll found just 33 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the economy as the inflation from Biden’s socialist spending rages out of control.
The border is wide open, Soros-backed district attorneys let criminals run wild on the street and Biden pushed the world to the brink of nuclear Armageddon with his reckless war in Ukraine, which cost taxpayers over $130 billion.
If a Cabinet official resigns next towards the end of 2023 or in 2024 that means Chuck Schumer will have to hold the confirmation hearing in the middle of the 2024 election.
That will allow Republican senators to litigate Biden’s policy failures in a high-profile setting and force incumbent Democrat senators running for re-election in Ohio, West Virginia, Montana, Nevada, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to take tough votes.
And that is why Biden and his top deputy are pressuring any Cabinet officials thinking of tendering their resignation to do so immediately.
