CNN positioned itself as the resistance to Donald Trump.
But even the liberals at CNN had to throw in the towel.
And CNN was forced to admit this shocking truth about Donald Trump.
Donald Trump scored the most decisive win in the history of the Iowa caucuses.
Trump’s 51 percent of the vote, 56,260 votes and 30-point margin of victory all set records and blew away the previous marks.
The race was such a blowout that CNN and the rest of the networks called the race for Trump minutes after the caucus began and only a few hundred votes were in.
But Trump’s win was so obvious that there was no point in denying the reality of the situation.
Over on CNN, left-wing activist and die-hard Trump hater Jake Tapper declared this the quickest call he could remember in all the years he has covered Iowa.
“This is the earliest I can remember ever calling such a thing,” Tapper exclaimed.
Tapper’s liberal co-host Kaitlan Collins admitted that the breadth of Trump’s support and the strength of his organization deserved praise.
“They expected for him to win. Obviously if he didn’t, it would be like a meteor striking the earth in their world,” Collins stated. “Their question is what is that margin going to look like? And you can see they have – Donald Trump is speaking. His sons are speaking. He has allies and operatives fanned out at every precinct making his case to everyone who’s at these caucuses, and it just speaks to the moment that we are in.”
Trump called his victory an “honor” in a statement to Fox News and praised his competitors as “credible” but said it is now time for the Republican Party to move on.
“It really is an honor that, minutes after, they’ve announced I’ve won—against very credible competition—great competition, actually,” Trump declared. “It is a tremendous thing and a tremendous feeling. We have to get our country back. Our country has gone through so many bad things over the last three years and it is continuing to go through bad things.”
Trump’s win didn’t leave a hint of daylight for his opponents to claim any momentum out of Iowa.
Trump won college-educated voters and women, two constituencies the establishment hoped Nikki Haley would be able to win over by running as a liberal on social issues.
Exit polls also showed that 65 percent of voters had their decision locked in before this month and that 66 percent of these voters went for Trump.
The only demographic that went against Trump was moderates where Haley won 63 percent of the vote.
But a candidacy built on the backs of moderate to liberal voters has no room for growth in a Republican primary and is dead on arrival once the race moves to South Carolina where only Republicans can cast a ballot.
And voters can expect Trump and his team to ramp up calls in the coming days for this primary to quickly come to a close so the GOP can unite behind its nominee and focus its attention on defeating Joe Biden.
