The home stretch before the voting in Iowa begins is upon the GOP.
Polls show Donald Trump holding commanding leads in all the early voting states.
And Donald Trump made one surprising revelation about who he will pick as vice president.
During an extended interview with Breitbart, Donald Trump threw cold water on the idea that whoever he picks will help him win the nomination.
The swamp and GOP elites who want to wrest control back of the Republican Party from Trump and his base are trying to spin some fairy tale that picking RINO former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley as his running mate will win back suburban female voters.
That’s because the next best thing to Haley winning the GOP nomination is ending up on the ticket and starting 2028 as the Republican Party presidential frontrunner.
Haley represents the old Republican Party where D.C. and New York elites called the shots and tried to impose support for amnesty, globalist foreign policy and surrender in the culture wars on the party base.
But the arguments to put Haley on the ticket didn’t appear to find much purchase with Trump.
Trump correctly noted that the running mate selection is a story for one day and the voters settle in and cast their vote based on the top of the ticket.
“If you study the history of presidential runs, a vice president has never made a difference—which is surprising,” Trump explained. “It’s a one-night story, and then they’re back to a regular evening. They’re voting for the president. They’re not voting for the vice president. There has, not that I can think of, never been a vice president that’s made much of a difference in terms of nomination and in terms of even winning the election.”
Trump, instead, focused on the fact that there is a deep pool of vice-presidential hopefuls to pick from.
“So, look, we have some very good people—the same people you know,” Trump continued. “They’re good people. We have some people that would like me to run with certain others. Maybe I can’t do that because you have to go with what your gut tells you. Winning is very important. Look, if we don’t win this, I think this country is finished. I actually do.”
Trump’s comments on social media didn’t lend much credence to the idea he would want Haley as his running mate.
The 45th president posted a poll showing Trump crushing Haley 54 to 25 percent in her home state of South Carolina and mocking Haley – who he calls “birdbrain” – for her low level of support from the voters who know her best.
Trump also blasted Haley for her lack of loyalty in running against him after swearing she wouldn’t.
“Birdbrain said, over and over again, that she would NEVER run against the President, ‘He was a GREAT President’ – and then she ran. Two very unreliable and disloyal people! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Loyalty is key for Trump as people he hired in his first administration proved loyal to the swamp as opposed to Trump and his MAGA agenda.
Picking Haley would also be bad for Trump as she is one of the least popular Republicans running.
Haley – who said she supports businesses importing unlimited numbers of immigrants into the United States and who declared Republicans must accept abortion on demand until the day of birth – has a higher percentage of Republicans disliking her than RINO former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchison who declared Trump should drop out of the race due to the criminal indictments brought by Democrat prosecutors and who thinks Section 3 of the 14th Amendment bans Trump from the ballot.
The only thing “surging” about Nikki Haley is how much people dislike her. Her unfavorability IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY is now higher than Asa Hutchinsonhttps://t.co/beIZGio6Zv pic.twitter.com/m9XWWWXWMJ
