Fox News’s feud with Tucker Carlson took another nasty turn.
The network will never pass up an opportunity to throw sand in the face of Carlson and his audience.
And Fox News just delivered Tucker Carlson some bad news that he is going to hate.
One of the many sore spots for viewers over Fox News canceling Carlson was the fact that Fox News yanked Carlson off the air abruptly and with no explanation.
When Fox News announced it was sacking Carlson on April 24 the move even took network staffers by surprise as evidenced by the fact that the network was airing promos for Carlson’s show that night.
Fox News fired the most popular cable news host of all time – Carlson set record ratings drawing in over 5 million viewers a night during the fall of 2020 – without allowing Carlson to sign off and say farewell to his audience.
It did not escape notice that Fox News pulled out all the stops for liberal commentator and former co-host of “The Five,” Geraldo Rivera, leaving the network.
On Rivera’s last day at Fox News the hosts of “Fox and Friends” had Rivera on set so the entire crew could deliver a standing ovation for Rivera’s 22-year career at the network.
“I am honored, I love Fox, I love the people at Fox, I always will,” Rivera declared.
“I’ll never let anyone separate us, but I am beyond grateful for this,” Rivera continued. “This is so deeply affecting, I love you for it. Thank you.”
Fox News also played a career retrospective video showcasing the highlights of his tenure at the top-rated cable news channel.
Rivera joined Fox News in 2001 so he could serve as a war correspondent first covering the invasion of Afghanistan and then Iraq.
But Rivera’s run came to an end in June after Rivera announced he was quitting the network following Fox News firing him from the popular panel show “The Five.”
“I’m not going to be on ‘The Five,’” Rivera revealed in a video posted to his Twitter account. “I’ve been fired from ‘The Five.’”
“And, as a result of that, I quit Fox,” Rivera announced.
Tucker Carlson received no such treatment.
In fact, not only did Fox News fire Carlson without letting Carlson speak to his audience, Fox News fired all of Carlson’s staff and forced them to work for two more weeks or else risk losing their severance packages.
Viewers could tell Fox News disrespected Carlson.
The instant Fox News took Carlson off the air with no warning or chance to bid the audience farewell, over 30 percent of Fox News viewers stopped watching the channel.
And Fox News only compounded this error by celebrating the career of a liberal like Geraldo Rivera which struck Carlson fans as an in-your-face move.
