Joe Biden weaponized the justice system to make sure Donald Trump never wins re-election.
But Biden got some bad news.
And now a judge just hit Joe Biden with a big setback in his scheme to jail Donald Trump.
All the evidence anyone needed to see that Joe Biden prosecutor Jack Smith intended to interfere in the 2024 election by indicting Trump in the Mar-a-Lago document case came when Smith asked for a December 11 trial date.
The Iowa Caucuses – the first nominating contest in the GOP primary – are set for January 15 and Smith claimed a trial would take a month.
Since this is a criminal trial Trump is required to attend every day.
That means Smith purposefully tried to schedule the trial to keep Trump off the campaign trail in the stretch run of the first critical nominating contest.
The jury could also deliver their verdict on Caucus Day and throw the event into chaos by convicting Trump.
Trump’s lawyers made the commonsense argument that this is a complex case and asked for an indefinite delay until after Election Day as it would be impossible for Trump to receive a fair trial in the heat of a presidential campaign.
Judge Aileen Cannon – who Trump appointed and who also faced a relentless media smear campaign – agreed in part with Trump while also leaving the door open to further delays.
Cannon set a trial date of May 20, 2024, which means almost all the GOP primaries will be over and the nomination likely decided.
“Donald Trump will stand trial on May 20, 2024 — after most presidential primaries have elapsed — on charges that he hoarded military secrets at his Mar-a-Lago estate, a federal judge ordered Friday,” POLITICO reported on the ruling.
“U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon appeared to split the difference between prosecutors’ request for a December 2023 trial date and Trump’s request to postpone the trial until after the November 2024 election,” POLITICO reported.
Judge Cannon did not address Trump’s lawyers’ argument about not being able to find a fair jury during the presidential campaign.
“Cannon noted that Trump’s lawyers argued that the case would face ‘insurmountable prejudice in jury selection stemming from publicity about the 2024 Presidential Election,’ but she found it ‘unnecessary’ to address that issue ‘at this juncture,’” POLITICO also reported.
If Donald Trump wins and has the GOP nomination wrapped up by May 20, then it is likely Trump’s lawyers will ask for another delay and Judge Cannon will grant the request.
And that will kill a central aspect of Joe Biden weaponizing the government to force Donald Trump into the position of being a convicted felon in the general election.
