Joe Biden thought he had a foolproof plan to weaponize the justice system to block Donald Trump from winning the 2024 election.
But Biden got some bad news.
And Joe Biden got hit with a brutal plot twist in his plan to jail Donald Trump.
Biden prosecutor Jack Smith slapped Donald Trump with two politically motivated indictments over an argument over documents with a Democrat librarian at the National Archives and contesting the 2020 election.
Polls show Biden’s scheme to use the indictments to disqualify Trump failing.
A new Emerson survey shows Trump leading Biden 45 to 43 in the critical swing state of Arizona and Premise Data shows Trump leading Biden 43 to 38 nationally.
Americans see through these sham charges as a political gambit by the Biden Justice Department to help Joe Biden by arresting his top Republican rival.
Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz is worried Republicans aren’t fighting back hard enough against the Justice Department serving as an arm of the Biden re-election campaign.
Gaetz told conservative commentator Charlie Kirk that Republicans have two options to fight back against Smith’s indictments of Trump.
The first path, Gaetz explained, involved Republicans requesting Smith appear before a relevant congressional committee for a transcribed interview.
Smith would obviously refuse at which point Gaetz said Republicans could vote to subpoena Smith.
When Smith inevitably failed to honor the subpoena Republicans could vote to refer Smith to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution on contempt of Congress charges.
Attorney General Merrick Garland approved contempt of Congress charges against Trump advisers Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro.
If Garland did not apply the same standard of justice to Smith, Republicans could then impeach Garland for not administering equal justice.
Smith would also have to go to trial with a criminal referral over his head and the public would know the only reason he wasn’t facing charges was because a Democrat administration wanted to protect a Democrat prosecutor that indicted the Republican frontrunner for president.
Gaetz explained that the House Republicans’ other option is for Speaker Kevin McCarthy to create a select committee to investigate the Justice Department meddling in the 2024 election.
Republicans could then invite Trump to testify as a whistleblower and grant him immunity.
Gaetz is warning conservatives that Republicans in the House of Representatives have options to stop these political persecutions of Donald Trump.
And Gaetz is worried that Republicans are sitting around just passively waiting for events to play out by which time it will be too late to act.
Congressman @mattgaetz has a BOLD plan he believes could immunize Donald Trump from Jack Smith’s politically weaponized crusade: Bring Trump in to testify before the House as a whistleblower, thereby triggering certain preexisting immunity protections.
Will it work? No idea.… pic.twitter.com/DvgTerduE8
