Hunter Biden is facing his moment of reckoning.
It’s not going down like anyone expected.
And Hunter Biden got indicted and what happened next will put your jaw on the ground.
Back in July, U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika threw out a sweetheart plea deal the Biden Justice Department tried to cut with Hunter Biden.
In exchange for pleading guilty to misdemeanor tax charges Hunter Biden would receive no jail time and would have a lifetime get-out-of-jail-free card on any future prosecutions stemming from this investigation such as illegal foreign lobbying.
The deal effectively ended any probe into allegations of influence peddling that threatened to ensnare Joe Biden.
But Judge Noreika tossed the deal on the obvious grounds that it was unconstitutional.
That forced the Justice Department to handle this case on the level and special counsel David Weiss came back with a nine-count indictment for failure to pay over $1 million in taxes that included three felony charges.
The indictment alleged that Hunter Biden accepted millions of dollars in payments from foreign companies in Russia, Communist China and Ukraine without paying any taxes on that income.
“At times relevant to this Indictment, the Defendant served on the board of a Ukrainian industrial conglomerate and a Chinese private equity fund. He negotiated and executed contracts and agreements for business and legal services that paid millions of dollars of compensation to him and/or his domestic corporations, Owasco, PC and Owasco, LLC,” the indictment read.
The indictment also charged Hunter Biden with filing false returns.
“The Defendant engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019, from in or about January 2017 through in or about October 15, 2020, and to evade the assessment of taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false returns in or about February 2020,” the indictment added.
In a podcast interview with early 2000s hit musician Moby, Hunter Biden baselessly claimed he is the victim of a political targeting in the criminal justice system and that Republicans are “trying to kill” him to take down his father’s presidency.
“They are trying to, in their most illegitimate way, but rational way, they’re trying to destroy a presidency,” Biden ranted. “And so it’s not about me, and [in] their most base way, what they’re trying to do is they’re trying to kill me, knowing that it will be a pain greater than my father could be able to handle.”
If anything, this indictment confirms the testimony of IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.
The Justice Department could have slapped Hunter Biden with this indictment any time during the last four years.
Instead, the Justice Department tried to make this case go away through a kid-gloves plea deal that only fell apart because an honest judge caught the corrupt bargain the Biden prosecutors and Hunter Biden’s legal team tried to slip past the court.
