Democrats are starting to realize Joe Biden may very well lose to Donald Trump.
But if anti-Trump forces want a new candidate the next question is who.
And now this Hollywood megastar revealed he got recruited to run against Donald Trump.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson went from WWE champion and WrestleMania main eventer to this generation’s Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger by starring in blockbuster action movie franchises like “The Fast and the Furious” and “Jumanji.”
Johnson built his wrestling and movie persona on being “The People’s Champion” as the charismatic 6’5”, 260 lb. “Rock” looks and acts like a comic-book superhero come to life ripped right off the pages of a Marvel comic.
Joe Biden can’t compete with Donald Trump in the showmanship department.
Voters also view the 80-year-old Biden as senile and physically feeble.
The view of Biden as a decrepit dementia patient is the underlying vibe that colors the perception of a Biden-Trump rematch.
To keep Trump out of the White House, anti-Trump forces need a better political athlete and showman.
And what better candidate than “The Rock,” the man whose legendary promos talked 68,000 fans into the Astrodome for the biggest WrestleMania ever at that time and who is one of the few movie stars who can open a movie on his persona alone.
In an interview with podcast host Joe Rogan, Johnson admitted a political party approached him about running for president in the hopes of defeating Trump.
“One of the parties came to visit me at the end of last year, asking for me to run,” Johnson began. “It was, first of all, incredibly f—ing surreal because I was the guy who was, you know, wrestling at flea markets, looking for free corn dogs and hot dogs and s—.”
“They had all this data that said that if this happens, here’s the results, and it was really f—ing deep,” Johnson added. “Then, I started to think, again surreal, because that’s never been my goal. I appreciate it, and I’m f—ing honored.”
Johnson then made it clear that he was no supporter of Joe Biden and that Democrats should be prepared to move to dump Biden when he answered Rogan’s point about when they were growing up it was no big deal to have friends in both parties.
Johnson said he has friends who support Trump and who support Biden.
Rogan interjected to wonder if Johnson really has friends who support Joe Biden.
Johnson then clarified that he does not.
“No, no. Here’s what I do. I have friends, thank you, that’s a good check, because that’s important. This is important context,” Johnson responded.
“They support the Democratic Party,” Rogan shot back.
“I have friends who are loyal to the party. Yes,” Johnson answered.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made his first ever public political endorsement in 2020 when he backed Biden and Harris.
Now Johnson is embarrassed to admit in public he has friends who support the candidate he endorsed for president.
Johnson carefully measures every word he says in public to maintain his image.
“The Rock” disavowing Joe Biden in public could be yet another sign that Democrats are desperately trying to create a permission structure for their voters to approve of dumping Biden for another candidate.
